Monday, May17, 2021It seems that I had a new hunting buddy this morning. When I walked through the Goat Pasture, I noticed that the gate to the Cow Pasture was open. Last time I hunted there, the guy next door said they were going to leave the gate open for the cows to get to the clover in the Goat Pasture. Aw Ha!There are two Great Pyrenees that live with the goats - one on a chain and one not. Don't get ahead of me. Too late - Yep, the one not on the chain decided to follow along with me to see what this squirrel hunting is all about. So I got to my spot, set up my stool, and settled with my back against the Big Deer Blind. That stupid dog commenced to run circles through the woods coming back by where I was sitting about every 10 minutes. After two hours of this (and having seen only one squirrel), I gave up and went home.
Thanks for the reply, Harry.I have given the situation some thought: My plan is to approach the woods from a different direction - avoiding the Goat Yard completely. I'll let you know if that works. Today is supposed to be too windy. Maybe tomorrow??
Wednesday, June 2, 2021Good morning ladies and gentlemen. It is a beautiful, warm, rainy morning here in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. It is a good day to . . . .I am calling my 2021 Spring Squirrel Season over. Earlier this month, the ticks made an early appearance. And once those little devils come out, I go in. (One of their bites will raise a bump on me that will persist for about six weeks.)Thank you for following my thread. I will be back in late September with more Fall/Winter Squirrel Season hunts. Stay well everyone and the C-19 Vaccine really works.
