Considering the size of those rats heads to their body size, there is too much risk of a miss or just a glancing impact if I aim for the head.  They move fast and quite unpredictably, so I prefer to do the center mass body shot on these critters!  And in those situations, the .25 definitely is the superior round!

Bingo,...... that answers the question.

Yeah, people might say what they want but the difference between .25 and .22 is real.
Shot placement trumps the difference... So Manny are you saying that a proper headshot on that rat from a .177 or .22 wouldn't cut it at the same distance? For rat size critters under fifty yards? No practical difference.

My man I take hogs, even good sized hogs with .177 and .22 so trust me I know exactly how efficient they can be,.....there's just more variables to the equations :)

Yes, my man! More variables and nuances. To what particular equation? Good for you on the hogs. I've taken hundreds, and I mean hundreds of rats. With .177 and the .22 from 5 to 55 yards. With proper hits, vitals or headshots. DRT! So yeah, lots of variables...😀

Paul,
Nice shooting the cannon..lol I have shot rats with my mini-rod .25 cal at 30fpe w/polymags but never with that much power.
You may need to try out some Hades in 25 cal and really blow em up.

My Storms .30 are the most accurate out of all calibers,.....with the .30 the high shoulder/neck shot is devastating

Iím rethinking that .30!  Maybe I should have gone larger, like .50 or .72 cal!

Nor sure the .30 would put this guy down if needed!  I doubt it would be needs though, they pretty much stuck to themselves and are not aggressive at all!

The 68gr boattails available on ebay shoot well from the magazine. Chrony at 819fps....curious as to your reaction to sound.
