Scope temperature operating range?

I was looking at the tech info on my new optisan CP 10x32 and noticed it had a "temp operating range" from -4 to 122 F....can somebody tell me what that operating range entails?
As in what happens if you use it above or below those temps? On a hot summer day in CA you can easily hit those temps if left in a truck and here in MT -4 and colder is a guarantee at times. Im just curious as to what happens to the scope where they become not operational at those temps?

Josh, I don't know all of the things that can happen, but I've recently learned that they do change focus. If you're using the scope to determine range to target based on75° Temperature then try it at 25°, it will be off by a few yards. I would expect the high temperatures to also affect range readings.
The scope is made of metal, and metal expands with temperature. That will change the distance from the occular lense to the objective lense.
Hopefully someone with better information will post soon.

Aluminum scope tubes expand and contract with temperature. It seems to me that would screw up focus. The heat might also mess up the glue that holds the lenses.

Little secret here the $100 TAC Vector 10x doesn't seem to have the temperature variance issues and glass is similar to the SWFA SS.
