Remove the scope and mount and start over. If the mounts have a removable plate on one side be sure it is the correct one for your dovetail - I'm assuming dovetail mounts. One side of the plate is for 3/8" dovetail and the other side for 11 mm. Mathematically they're pretty close but the dovetail angle is cut differently. Also, sometimes the mount is not settled on the rifle or the stop pin may be interfering with proper mounting.

Ya,. I did not mean to distract from road's answer on the tabs/ clip Like he said. The part that fits the grove on them are 2 ways. One side looks longer or deep one one side is short on how it fits the grove in the dovetail part. As he said 3/8 or 11 mm. I guess if you had the 11mm on one ring and the 3/8 on the other it could cante it. I would not of guessed that drastically bit what do I know?To help show what roadworthy said in a pictureNotice the clip the top is shorter point to grip the dovetail then the bottom / longer
Take off the rings & reverse them. Front to the back, back to the front. Even turn them around so the right side of the rings are on the left, etc.Make sure they clamp correctly into the rail. Seems unlikely that a "tack driver" scope would suddenly be so far off unless the mounts are amok. That's what I did today. Front to back then reversed right to left. Still way off. I'm at a loss. Maybe it is the mounts, I don't know...so frustrating!!
Glad to hear that you solved the problem. Don't feel stupid. We've done stuff like that. After testing someones gun at 25 yards at the range with a chrono. I went home to test it more in the basement. Once in a while it wasn't even on paper completely missing my pellet stop. Then I noticed that I didn't lower the chrono tripod for the height of the basement table. I was skipping pellets at 850fps off the top of the chrono when shooting at the lower targets. Live and learn.
