In regards to the gun having the Laser spring, it has a Theoben gas ram. My understanding is all the MKIII versions came with a gas spring, but I could be mistaken.
Hey Kirk,I have been told that Dr. Beeman had a contractual agreement with Weihrauch that would allow these rifles to be manufactured by Weihrauch with Theoben gas rams and be labeled as a Beeman R1. The Laser portion included a special tune and the higher grade laminate stock. If anyone has any other or different information regarding the R1 Laser MKIII guns, I would love to know more about them.Thanks.
The Laser is essentially a Theoben HE gas ram from the time they were out with them with the Crow Magnum and Eliminator. There was/is a customizing process called "Lasering" by Beeman to "tune" up a rifle with a spring.LD, you'll find that .20 very accurate with any pellet if it's like the two I had around 2000 or 1999. I had ended up buying a total of 2 .25s, 2 .20s, and 1 .22 Theoben Eliminators around that time, shifting through them and deciding to keep only one because they ALL were very nice shooters with RAPID pellet dwelling time. They have Dampa Mounts installed on top to put any scope you choose, and the only part that is HARD to understand on them is the TRIGGER, which can't be as smooth as the original REKORD is.Hi John, yes the rifle is very accurate. I have always been very impressed with it. I am not exactly sure what Beeman did on the gas ram laser tuned ones. It is pretty smooth for a magnum rated gun. This rifle has had that Beeman Blue Ribbon 66RL 2 x 7 scope on it from day one. I understand that the scope was made by Hakko back then and seems to be pretty bulletproof as they say. I would not mind trading that scope for a decent 4-16 power one as my eyes are not what they used to be. I read somewhere that some of the early Theoben gas rams take a higher pressure charge than the current ones. Have you ever heard that?LarryThere were also RXs that came out in Beeman name, also HW gas rams but not quite the same as the Theoben ones.
LDamm, u are a lucky dog to have that rifle! that looks like a nice example of that gun! congrats on getting it back! enjoy it my friend Hi Mark, Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I was very happy to get it back and am enjoying it every time I shoot it. It is in incredible shape for its age. It probably only has had less than a thousand pellets ever fired through it. I hope to up that count as time allows.Take care.
Around the time the RXs came they were "already" lowering power, and I didn't know whether that was because Theoben had a patent restricting Beeman or HW; and, since those old Theobens I've not seen anything "brand new" made today equaling them. I know I can send my Theoben Eliminator to RAW where Mark works and he knows these well enough to maintain them. RAW is mostly PCP and has been, I was surprised to find out (from Kevin of SS) Mark in RAW had taken over Theoben somehow for maintenance. So far my own hasn't had a thing done to it, but I had always used it infrequently over the years just to "keep using it" because if they sit I think things can go wrong.
