Well, well. Not 45 minutes after number 9, number 10 made an appearance.
I had not had a chance to even go get another rifle so decided to give the Titan another chance. With the Crosman Piranhas it is shooting the 14.4gr@670 fps consistently for 14.3 FPE. So plenty enough for the kill. The last shot I hit high but since they were spot on when doing sight in I placed the cross hairs just behind his shoulder and let it fly.
What the what? Hit high again! This time it must have severed his spine as he took the hit and then dragged himself over about 14" and died. There is just one wound. No pellet inside so it basically just tore a hole through the top of his back.
Again, the nitro piston was sitting there for 45-60 minutes cocked. Do you think that has something to do with the change in impact point from my sight in shots? It seriously was stacking the pellets right on the bull and then two shots about 1/2" high after sitting cocked.
Had really high hopes for a clean heart/lung shot. Not sure I want to try a third time. I have to nitro piston rifles and last year the Remington NPSS hit but after getting up the chipper stumbled off INTO my garage. Maybe me and nitro pistons just are a bad combination? Ugh.
