Title: Tree Rat Suprise
Post by: sjfrockerdude on July 23, 2010, 05:45:36 PM
Well got home from the plant today and took a look around the house as I always do, I walked around to the back and much to my suprise there were not one, but 3 squirrels!
So I decided to rid the yard of those tomato stealing rats, grabbed my Walther Talon(which has no scope on it ATM) and decided to see how good my aim really was ;D.
sneaked around to the back again and got into prone position next to the porch, they were to busy digging holes in my yard to notice. I took aim at the nearest one and once it stood still I aimed there I assumed its chest was(the sights covered almost the whole side of it), relaxed my breathing and let loose the predator. all I heard was the rifle firing and then a split second later, THWAAACK! Poor guy dropped like a rock, kicked once, then took a good nap.

I'm going to attempt to post some pics, so bear with me if it doesn't work

I know it! Honestly though at almost 20 yards that shot was pure luck. :-\ I really need to get my scope stop fixed >:(
Oh well, still one less thief in the yard.

What amazes me is that the predator never came out the other side.. Guess it couldn't make it through both shoulders even with a magnum Springer.  :-\

And thanks everyone for all the compliments!!  ;D 8) :D

Very nice shooting to the pump house :)   The predator is still a hollow point, so it won't have the same penetration as a domed pellet.  They got a couple of my wife's tomatos too.  I know it's them because the Groundhogs are all dead, unless it's chipmunks or birds.

Hopefully my tomatoes will be safe this year what the tree rats didn't get the blight did . With close to 40 less this year they should be safe but if they come near them they are going to get lead poisoning, he he

Yeah my wife said she was only able to salvage very few tomatoes this year.  She said it wasn't the critters but something else.  I think she said blight.  I know she doesn't like spraying them because she is afraid of the chemicals.  Where does blight come from?  Is it a parasite?  Last year we got a lot of cherry and regular tomatoes and they tasted great.  This year she brought in 5 tomatos and when she sampled one, said it didn't as good.  Should we throw them out?

The blight is a fungal pathogen, the winter is suppose to kill it but all plants and tomatoes should be burned. I had heard of something to put on the ground after but Lowes and Home Depot didn't have it. Yea  your not suppose to eat any that have the blight

All my poor tomatoes either got eaten by tree rats, bugs, neighbors(imma get em back one day) or rotted, so I'm taking my anger out on the squirrels.  >:(
