Title: Black filters?????

Have any of you bought on of these? There much cheaper than the gold filters.

They're a lot smaller than the 'Gold' filter...

I tried and used both (black & gold) and I prefer the black.
Personal opinion is I don't have to waste as much air pressuring the gold filter compared to the black filter. Run time for YH is less.
I think the gold is fine for larger compressor. But what do I know I'm just a consumer learning as I go  ;D

I have the black filter but mine was purchased from lethal air before this one showed up on aliexpress. I replaced the carbon and silica gel with 13x alumina silicate molecular sieve with color changing beads.   https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CJXDBV2/ref=pe_253590_291545930_em_1p_4_ti (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CJXDBV2/ref=pe_253590_291545930_em_1p_4_ti)

That's what I did, replace the carbon and silica with 13x. I use it to top off my SCUBA (3000 psi) tank when it get's below 2500 psi. Then use the SCUBA tank to fill my PCP's.

Matt, the internal volume inside of a gold filter is the same as the outer dimension of the black filter.  YH and Tuxing single cylinder compressors cost less by not including a quality moisture separator tower or large enough high pressure filter.  The tiny factory filter on the end of the fill hose is miniscule for the amount of moisture these compressors generate during a fill.  The black filter is an improvement over the factory filter.  If a gold filter is packed full of desiccant the internal volume difference compared to a black filter doesn't add much added run time but it does provide much longer infervals between desiccant servicing.  You are trading frequency of servicing more than the minor differences between fill times.   The gold filter holds 100% more desiccant than a black filter.  Both work, it's just more of a trade off on service length vs. added run time.  Now if someone is running a Shoebox they should opt for the black filter over a gold filter because of it's low air output.

Thank U for your input on the tradeoff of the black vs gold.

i use the black filter, with pmv ,,its good but the gold filter is better i think because of the bigger volume, more space for water to condense,,if i had the gold filter i will just attach a one way valve to the input side and and set the pmv at 3000psi,,if done like that there will be no waiting time to re pressurize the whole filter set up between rest periods with the yongheng,,and if course a bleeder also to depressurize the filter after use

here is my filter set up,, i also attached a small gold tube, so it act like a coaslescing filter somehow lol

I have one, I have used it with both a yong heng and a tuxing TXES021. I use the small factory filter as well as the black filter. The filter seems well made and has very thick side walls and well cut threads. I have had no issues with it.

My tuxing runs a heck of a lot cleaner than my yong heng did and the black filter seems to be plenty for it. The yong heng would soak the cotton filter element with oil and water after about 30 minutes. The tuxing did not put out enough oil or moisture to notice when checking the filters after topping off my 30min scba tank from 3,800 psi to 4,500. I don't get to shoot very often though(an hour drive to shoot and no were to hunt anymore) so it is not used a lot. I don't know how well it would do for frequent use.

When I bought my YH I was sure I was going to have equal problems of dealing with moisture and oil. To my surprise I'm not having any oil deposits on filter. Moisture yes but nothing that the gold or black filter has not been able to address. I am using my YH in my basement that I run a dehumidifier set at 50% relative humidity. I'm sure this helps.
I primarily use my YH to top off my SCUBA tank from 2500 to 3000 PSI. I only have like 3 hours of run-time so far.

Thanks for the link.
I was thinking I could build one cheaper than the Gold, but when I sourced the material it would cost more than this Black one... I am "in".

So far I have had no problems with moisture when filling from my Yong Heng. I'm using the supplied black filter with the tampon inside along with the larger black filter with 13X molecular sieve, both are secured higher than the compressors output connection and I purge the first and second stage blow off valves every five minutes while filling. I have had no signs of water or oil in either filter running the compressor in my air-conditioned house. I have checked the color changing beads in my second filter and have not seen an indication yet that they need replacing or dried. I have refilled my 45 min tank from 3000 to 4300 psi several times now and am quite pleased with how the system is working. I'm monitoring my hour meter to see how long it takes before I have to service the beads in the large filter, but as of now they still appear to be dry.

I'm sure that the carbon and silica gel beads will help remove moisture but not sure how long it will go before needing dried, still better than no second filter but not as effective as molecular sieve in my understanding.
