RWS 350 MAGNUM/SCOPE

I'm new to air rifles, stumbled onto this forum and have many questions. I really was excited to buy the Benjamin NPXL 22, but I have read so many post stating how upgrades and tuning needs to be done to make it perform. I would like to purchase a pellet gun ready to go out of the box. I have been looking at the RWS350 MAGNUM/scope, is this gun going to do the job? I'm shooting destructive Pineys. For me $460.00 is a heck of alot of money for a gun. The lower priced German guns I have noticed may be made in China?

I have a 350 Feurkraft in .22 which is essentially the magnum and it is deadly to anything under 20 lbs and with exact bullet placement larger quarry. It will take a little getting used to shooting because it is very hold sensitive. If you get it shoot at least 1500 to 2000 pellets through it before you give up on it. It takes that much to get it broke in and for you to get comfortable with it.

I don't know what a piney is:
But the 350 mag .177 like I have is one heck of a gun she packs quite a whallop
All the German air rifles from Dianna or Hw will get the job done quite nicely.
The 34s are priced as entry level yet are extremely accurate shooters and have quite the punch aswell I know I have the 34s in .177 and .22.
The more powerful the ag and nicer it is the more she'll cost, But you definately get what you pay for with reliability and out of the box readiness.Rob

first off Sam welcome to the GTA! i would have a couple questions for you...do you only plan to hunt with your new gun or just punch paper? Or a little of both? I'll tell you right off I'm an airgun "enabler" so you might have to narrow it down or else ill tell you, you need 4 guns lol.
460 is a TON of cash for me too. i would look at the HW50 in .20 with a decent scope. if paper punchin up close is your thing maybe a HW30(which are on sale right now
)....the 350 for a "first" magnum air rifle may be a handful. i really love .20 guns which the HW makes alot of. a nice all around cal. you'll find 100 opinions for one question here on the GTA...so dig in and ask all the questions you need to...cheers Bart

I have a .22 cal 350 magnum, which I bought specifically for hunting and it's served me well. Have used it for squirrels, rabbits and woodchucks and with proper shot placement it's never let me down.
Use a good 1 piece scope mount, consider the RWS droop compensator mount due to the probability of barrel droop, a good scope and you shouldn't have any scope problems.
Keep in mind that magnum springers can be more difficult to shoot accurately than medium powered rifles so you may have to put some time to get comfortable with it but once you "get the hang of it" it's well worth the effort. I never found my 350 to be hold sensitive but I've read other shooters comment that their rifles were.
Keep in mind also that the 350 is a long rifle that has some weight to it. I don't find the length or weight objectionable but it's something you should consider. The 350, in my mind, is definitely not a target rifle or "plinker". It's a hunting rifle.
I love my 350. It's accurate, extremely powerful and I love hunting with it. If you're looking for a powerful, quality hunting rifle then the 350 would definitely qualify, but there are a lot of rifles out there. Take your time, look around and make sure you get the right rifle for you. I'm sure others will chime in with their take on the rifle..

If you are just getting started, Go for the B-25 from Mike at
www.BestAirgun.com
. It is a clone of the RWS-34. Much smoother and easier to shoot. Mike will lube tune it before he ships it. If you want an RWS, go for the 34. The 350 is a tough gun to shoot/master. The 34 in .22 would be a great all-around shooter/hunter.

Thanks for the replys, like I said I really like the looks of the NPXL but do not want to have to do a whole lot of wrenching. The RWS 350 has way better reviews and comes with a life time warranty.
Pineys are (AKA, Red Squirrels) Thats what we call em in Northern Indiana. I have had over $300.00 in damage to my Dodge Van and that does not include a fire in the heater core. I have been shooting most of them with a Ruger 10/22 with a red dot scope. I'm a bad shot, but that gun is accurate for the poorest shooter. One big reason I want a pellet gun is to take my dog along, she is skittish but not totally gun shy. She shows Squirrel hunting ability, I thought a silent, but accurate pellet gun would help me train here.

I'm stricktly hunting red squirrels. I'm scared of chinese made pellet guns, that is why I'm looking hard at the more expensive RWS.

I'M gonna throw somethig else in the mix here, I don't know what kinda scope comes with the package your talking but if its the standard RWS package the scope doesn't have any mildots, that said IMO if your just getting into springers and want a magnum gun to hunt with that has as much power as the 350mag thats alot easier to shoot I would get a model 48 in 22cal you can package deal new from airgun deopt or some place like that with a better scope a Leapers 3x9x40ao miidot and mount for the same about price. The 48 is an easier gun to shoot well and has lots of power and can be tuned to shooter harder if you want to!

Mark brings up a great point, if your gonna hunt with an air rifle mil-dots are a must. Insteed of looking at a combo,A) find the hunting rifle you want (22cal). B) spend some time looking at differnt scopes, and keep in mind a RWS 350 has some kick. An airgun rated scope is a must.
BTW in all fairness i love guns made in china too! I have alot of them and always will..........Bart

Obnoxious little reds will win a fight with a gray or fox over twice their size, but structurally they're fragile
in comparison. A 350 is definitely over kill.
If I were to buy a new all round squirrel gun, it'd be the .22 RWS 34.
Actually,,, the Striker combo at PA has a relatively decent scope and mount.

Welcome to the gta ,all the brothers here gave some good advice as a first time airgunner I would look into something with power and less costly hence the tf89 many here will back up the tf89 a 22 will be pushing 14 in the mid 780s and many hunters can vouch for it ,but its chinese. Many of the popular guns are chinese made and many of the brothers here has chinese guns in the stable with time and some love these guns will do the job.go have a convo with the hunting mods here and they will fill you in.

sam, the NPXL is made in China. Most of the shooters out there are made in China, Turkey or Spain. No need to fear most of the Chinese stuff. I will put my TF-99 up against any of the high$$ guns any day.
