It was a Dark, dark Storm and the Rain kept on
« on: March 13, 2014, 04:08:44 AM »
Awhile back I set up a feeder, but it's not my favorite hunting so I've been procastinating,
today I was sick and I think I put some good time into mingling with the porkers on the ground so I decided to go hunt the Stand

I've being fine tuning my BlackStorm for just this occasions.

I really cranked up the power and got Will to make me a single shot tray so I can shoot the 32gr EunJin

Those pellets at 25 yards just blow throught a 2x4 :)

so I got to the stand and settled in.

at 2:30 I had to take my DayQuil :)

Nothing came throught all day and I was just about to pack up when silently a Boar slipped out the forest, gave me a 3/4 shot at 1st but eventually he faced me and it was game over

was getting dark so I had to hussle and couldn't take the picture of my set up, next time.

The Timer got me on this one , LOL ::) ::) ::)

Another job well done yet again Manny. I'm sure it took some effort to dress that big boy out & load him up, especially when you're a bit under the weather.

Good shot placement. I can see where that 32.4 grain blew in. The Rainstorm in .22 is up there in the ranks of .22 monsters.

thank you very much fellas, appreciate the posts.

the 32.4gr EunJin is just a devastating round for this application, I was testing on clamped down Phone books ( so I make them tight ) and I was getting over 2" of penetration at 25 yards.

and to top it up it's the most accurate round out of this rifle too :)

One day Manny, you are gonna have to give us a tutorial of how you deal with the piggy after getting dispatched. Are you field dressing, or throwing the whole thing over your shoulder and huffing and puffing back home?

And then there is your favorite recipes… do tell…

Great shooting Manny.

Most Korean PCP's love the EunJin's.  I wouldn't doubt if the company made the pellets for those guns, or if the Korean gun manufacturers test all their guns with the EJ's, or both.  I would not be surprised if they designed the breach to take the wider EJ's and/or build the barrels to perform best with the EJ pellets.  I just wish more non-Korean PCP's would shoot well with the heavy EJ's.

Good kill. That's a pretty hog. His head is broad and well defined. Most of Florida's hogs are full of domestic genes from the days the settlers freeranged their hogs and they interbred with the European wild boars the Spaniards brought . Therefore not all wild hog heads look "wild" like that here.

Speaking of his head, I noticed in the third picture of the hog where he's stood up that its very easy to see your shot placement. Its so hard for me to shoot for that point on an instinctual level. Even as I imagine aiming at him right now everything inside wants me to pull the crosshairs down to between his eyes.

Would it be accurate to say that the proper shot placement for a head-on shot (with the hog's head down) would be to draw and X between his eyes and ears and aim for the center of the X? To me it looks like your shot placement does that. If so, that might make it easier for me to line up to imagine the X.
