What's not to love? Mine shoots just about everything I've stuffed in it with good accuracy. It even likes my cast pellets and slugs.
I love mine too. The thing that is striking to me is the air storage for my Prod is about the same as some guns today use for their regulated chamber. Makes me wonder if guns with a plenum this big are not kind of missing the point. To each his own but I think airguns are at their best when they don't try to be a powder burner equivalent.
I guess it depends on the level of accuracy one is looking for. If it doesn’t kill the tiny dots @10m, I can’t see how it would be any better down range.I don’t expect it to compare to the 1720, which it doesn’t. I also intend to butch the 1720 into a QB or 2079 stock one day. I like it in stick form, but it would benefit from an Archer trigger pack and a real stock. The barrel on the Prod was super filthy, likely never been cleaned. I feel it shoots too fast for anything but domes. The AA Falcons are the clear favorites. But I only had a few FTT left in 5.53. They seemed ok.I have yet to try the Baracuda Hunters or the Extreme hunters that I bought to try in the bigger gun. Maybe they will shoot. 18 grainers should provide some thump. This will be for short range garden defense, 25y or less.Today I will swap the mods from one to the other and see if there is a difference.I would like to remove the barrel and give it a deep clean and JB treatment. Do I need to degas? Probably best to do so.I just tested the Baracuda hunters, only a few shots, running 690fps or so. Still 19ish fpe. Seemed accurate. I doubt they will deform at that speed, but if it likes the same weight pellets as my AAs500, it’s a win.
Well I have become a Walther barrel snob. I have 5 in the house now. I also have no confidence in Crosman’s ability to make a good barrel. So far this one seems ok. I will take it out and give it a good polish.I would love to put one in this Prod. Thanks Randy, that’s what I thought.
