I'm not sure if you knew this already or it's relevant or not. It's my understanding that the 25mm and 26mm piston Hw97s use the same receiver. Only the piston and sliding compression tube are different. I met a person at my air rifle range that changed his to a 25mm by changing the compression tube and piston. Also someone else here explained the stock inletting is the same on all the models. The only way to tell might be to take it apart. Chronographing it to might point to which model it is. A 26mm 177 Hw97 normally makes around 14 fpe I doubt the 25mm would make much more than 12fpe.Good luck with whatever it is. It looks to be a beautiful rifle.
Did you check in the breach just in case ?
I had to give the barrel another tiny nudge upward but now I have a 30 yd zero and I'm reasonably in the middle of my scope adjustments. I was happy with it until I brought out my tuned 48 and my other tuned HW97. Even though it shoots reasonably well there is a ton of Spring noise and "boink" .looking in the gun somebody had at 1 point put some tar and moly on the Spring but it needs more work. I'd been away from my airguns for a couple years and I spent an hour and a 1/2 down shooting at knockdown targets. It was so relaxing. I also brought my .177 tuned R7 that is just magic. It has the habit of shooting really cheap pellets well.I don't know how it does it but even really cheap crossman 7.9g hp Walmart tin pellets at 30 yd shoot .5" . The surprise was crosman sells a Brazilian made 7g domed/ grooved skirt pellet and it shot those fantastic.
