Quick question on o-rings, when it comes to internal o-rings is silicone grease (diver/scuba type) better than silicone oil? I'm sure on bolt probes you wouldn't want the grease making a mess. Do you ever add a bit of pure silicone oil when filling? Are you supposed to on occasion? (Thinking similar to CO2 guns)I'm going to have to check out Captain O ring. Thanks for this thread, airustations and all.
My gauntlet orings are chewed up as well and I am looking at finding some polyurethane orings but they run about $0.75 each in a pack of 25. I'm just not sure why they put the rings on the probe instead of inside the receiver like DAR does? I have about 4k pellets through the DAR and the single oring looks great, while the Gauntlet has less than a tin and the rings are mangled.I find myself lubing the probe every magazine, there is just that much grinding going on in there. I did pull the barrel and chuck it up, opened up the receiver up and polished it, polished the TP and cleaned the barrel real well, which also help. I also cleaned up the magazines like Hajimoto instructs for better feed without damaging the pellets. The gun is still in a pile on my fill table awaiting the rings from Amazon.
MikeWhat size is this "O" ring?Are/Is the hole in the magazines covers the same size as the outside diameter of the bolts/probes "O" ring?I had to open mine up a few thousands and deburr the plastic edges on both sides and add a very slight bevel etc, as that was eating the "O" rings on my Gauntlets mags........... Made a world of difference on loading etc.Tia,Don
Go with Urethane for the O-ring material. They last much longer and don't require any lube.
My less then one year old Gauntlet has a somewhat damaged pellet probe o ring. My fault for neglecting the gun for a while and not putting some silicone oil. I called Umarex to see if they can send a couple which I think they all taken 2 at least mine does. They said the first one is free but almost $5 for each additional o ring. No thanks. Thanks Captain O ring. They sell a Gauntlet O ring set for $13 plus free shipping plus you can get additional pellet probe o rings for $.50. Yes $.50 is kinda pricey compared to buying in bulk but hey it’s the correct size and free shipping so I’ll take it. Thanks for reading my airustrations of the day. Yes that’s my new word air gun frustrations.
This is typical of Umarex.I had a bad experience with them when the RWS rifles I had needed a breech oring. They will state that:-you have to ship the gun to them at your expense (at least $30)-Umarex will do the very complicated operation of replacing the oring-Umarex will ship the air gun back to you at your expense (at least $30)So the price of changing an oring has just become at least $60 and a wait time of about 6 weeks.Umarex at this time has the worst, most expensive customer support of (very likely) every company in this business.
Easy answer, follow the money. Don't give away the size so you can make $4.95per o-ring for a 5 cent part.

Yes that’s my new word air gun frustrations.Wow. For a single o-ring, that's highway robbery. I recently contacted Umarex for o-rings for my Walther Dominator 1250 along with a new valve/regulator. I was told they had neither and didn't know if/when they would have new stock. They recommended I search for the parts online. Meanwhile, I called Gamo USA two days ago for replacement o-rings for my fill probe and two damaged mags (caused by play in the plate that keeps the mag aligned). With no questions asked, they agreed to send me 4 replacement o-rings and two replacement mags (which retail for nearly $50 each).
