My tuned 97 .177 was a pure joy to shoot right up to the day the spring broke. I ordered a new JM Hornet spring. After the install I could immediately tell that this thing is waaaay to stout so I pried off the top hat and dremmeled off 2 coils, dressed the end and replaced the top hat. Cocking effort is better but still too hot (8.4s @ 900 FPS). My question is - should I just keep shortening the spring until I get it down to the 850fps range? Is a coil at a time too much? Should I leave it cocked over night before making any more changes? Thanks. P8
