I believe that you can add spring pre-load to the rifle with the addition of spacers/washers at either the front or rear end of the spring. It seems that adding to the front end of the spring would slightly increase the total weight of the piston while adding to the rear of the spring would not increase the total piston weight. Do I have this right and/or am I missing something? I realize that the spacers/washers would not be the same as per the ID/OD. Thanks

I think you have it pretty well understood, keep in mind that the preload could make the shot cycle a little more violent.

That pretty much nailed it. Metal washers/spacers up front will effect the piston weight more so than plastic ones.
