New rifle won't fill

New BSA Buccaneer won't fill over 500 PSI. The fill probe isn't real tight in the fill port and is leaking around the adapter. Using a hand pump that builds high pressure under test. Hose leaks down when not pumping so I know the air is leaking around the probe. I greased the fitting before use, changed o rings, even tried a ring of teflon tape under the o ring to make it a little tighter. No luck. Any suggestions?

While filling it, get a clean soft rubber mallet and "tappy tap tap" by the breach area... In your case, it'll be easier if you had an accomplice.

Rifle is cocked as per the instructions. Is there a valve hung up preventing air from filling the tube?

Tried to tap as filling but same result. I can feel/hear the air leaking around the probe.

Oh. The tappy method won't fix that.
Which part of the probe do you think it's leaking at? The airgun or the pump side?

The leak is around the fill probe like it's too small. Seems to only be on the hose side but not on the opposite end. Could the check valve be hung up? How would I relieve the pressure in the reservoir if I had to clean the valve? Dry fire until empty?

I found a small burr in the fill port that nicked the o ring and allowed it to leak past the seal. That explains why changing o rings didn't fix the problem. Luckily I have a hardware store in the area with a good supply of o rings. Thanks for all the suggestions, help, and quick responses.

McMaster is good on-line source for o-rings.

Try to double the O-ring if it still does not work.
It worked on mine

Thanks. I filed the burr and it was fixed. The o-rings held after that.
