Diana 54 Observation - Wow what a strange/unique gun to shoot.

So I picked up a laminated Diana 54 because I really dig laminated stocks and I have always wanted to try a 54 with the recoilless system.
I don't have much to say beyond a couple things since it is basically just out of the box in sight in phase but a couple quick observations.
1-Its not as heavy as the numbers make it out to be.
2-The rear stock comb is much more comfortable then pictures lead you to believe. The rear of the stock seems to have a pretty substantial drop off to the rear but in practical terms its very comfortable.
3-The rear sight has three "roll pins" that are extremely loose, I have taped them in for now.
4-At first blush it seems like it is a very accurate rifle. ( I am running with irons for the time being)
5-The chamber seems pretty oversized but it doesn't appear to effect accuracy
6- and now for the party trick, the recoilless operation. WOW what a strange sensation. I have shot MANY firearms and air rifles and I don't think I've ever shot anything that felt quite like this. Its not quite like a pneumatic gun sensation where there is just a release of air. There is the sensation of the piston/action working but there really isn't any recoil at all. It's a bit of brain screw actually and its really hard to describe as I cannot relate it specifically to anything else. It is a totally interesting and at least for me unique experience. The closest thing I can relate it to for me personally is shooting a .22 TCM firearm. .22 TCM has a huge bark, a huge fireball, puts up impressive numbers and has ITTY BITTY ALMOST NOTHING RECOIL. You fire off a round and your brain is taking in this flash and boom but your hands and arms are reporting back that you just shot a little pop gun so your brain sort of goes "huh what now?
" The 54 is similar in that sensation.
At any rate with the exception of the "Diana issues" (plastic parts, some minor QC things etc.) so far its a really fun and extremely unique experience.

One more off the cuff observation. I threw a rear peep sight on (haven’t sighted as of yet) and with the peep sight picture the gun holds/feels vaguely like an M1A/M14.

Congratulations on the Diana 54!!!
I was going to buy a second myself, a red laminated in .177, but with the two other purchases I made (plus accessories) I'll have to hold off a bit. They really are unique in their shot cycle. There will be a slight hint of recoil, as I found they're not 100% recoiless. But pretty close
The D54 Pro .22 I have likes H&N and JSB/A.A. pellets. It did ok with CPHP's but it sounded like the internals didn't, it calmed down a lot after I quite using them.
Hope you enjoy It. Take it easy.

They are definitely neat to shoot. I've been shooting 150 & 300 both recoiless.
I purchased my 54 months ago, and still haven't shot it.
Have fun with 54.
