I would just "copy" the 23" barrel and make a new shorter barrel. I've turned a few barrels for air guns playing around with the rifling twist rate for slugs.
IIRC, Bill Greathouse (Bill G) can do most any barrel work you need. He purchased Jim Gaska/Marmot Militia/WAR barrel tooling/methods. greathousemachine@outlook.com
AllanWhy not cut off the chamber end, then cut a new chamber to the desired length needed, easier to do chamber ends than muzzle ends for chocking........... YMMV,Tia,Don
Makes sense, thx. - but I'd still need someone to do it. That's some pretty serious machining.I assume that's what's done when you buy a blank from LW or CZ, yes?

The TP work could be done on a drill press. The chamber is two or three tapers cut and polished on a lathe - even on a mini-lathe.
I'm pretty sure Alchemy Airwerks can do it. I have his number if you're interested.
If your wanting a "slug optimized barrel" you dont want a choke anyway so just chop and recrown
I'm looking at all options for my next rifle. It must be backpack-able, so the barrel can't be more than 20". There are a lot of decent bullpups in my price range with the features I need, but almost all of them have 23" barrels. So, if a barrelectomy isn't overly expensive, it would greatly expand my options.-----------------------------------Please let me know here, as I tend to not see PM's. thx.
