Ideas for reducing comb on gen 2 mag stock as to get better open sight picture. Has anyone attempted this mod. Really hard to get down on with the open sights. I don,t believe it would take much and still be high enough to use scope if need be. Any feed back on this would be greatly appreciated. Mike

I think it depends on which of the variations of stock you have. With some of plastic stocks I don't think you could do a successful alteration because the plastic material would be too think to work with. One of the plastic stocks with a high comb that looks as if it is a clip on, but may not be, could have chance.
The wooden stock with the exaggerated thumb hole would be possible maybe. The trouble is that the top bar above the hole is thin and making a cut out to achieve what you want would weaken the butt so I would say don't chance it.
There is one version with a standard pistol grip timber stock. You make a cut out in that and use the cut out piece to make an adjustable cheek piece. You can see the sort of thing on the Gamo Challenger stock. It would require careful wood work and a little refinishing but could be done very neatly and at little expense if you don't already have bits and pieces to hand.
I could/would do that this afternoon but obviously can't.
I hope someone has better ideas than me and speaks up.

the comb is a plastic insert that clips into the hollow stock
the open sights on mine came from the factory whacked so I've never used them, overall the stock cheapens the rifle imo

Gamo really need to start offering some wood stock options. I have a B26-2 with a high comb thumb hole stock. When I bought it from FD/MM he offered me a low comb thumb hole for $25. Nice option. If you ever saw the wood stock for a Hatsan Dominator, not offered in the USA, you'd see what I mean. Plastic just looks cheap to me.
