Pre-serial number is a tough one, but you can get close if you know when they made small changes.Brass cylinder, or aluminum, did they change the sights, design of stock, many times they only run a type of component for a smaller window, lets say 1 to 3 years All of this information is only helpful if you have a data base to start with. I have data on Crosman's, but your gun will pre-date my list.
I'm sure somebody knows. If I find out any more information, I will get back to you.

So I went through my Crosman lists and found that they did not have any new models or model changes from 1940 thru 1946.That may be the shut down and change over for war production. If that is the case for Crosman, then Benjamin may have done the same thing. This could removes a few more years from your search.Once again, just a guess. If anyone knows more please share. I want to keep my lists current.

By March 1946 production had resumed for most models.Without getting into details, your particular 132 pistol is post war; manufactured between 1948-'54. As oldair mentioned, it can be narrowed down by the type of bolt probe. The type of pump seal will also be a determining factor. Posting a pic of probe and also a bright pic of the pump head, as seen through slot when pump lever is fully extended, will help further narrow down a date.
