Or bench rest competition lever action BB gun. I am bring facetious of course. It's for fun. My eyes really require an optical at my age. I can use open sights on a rifle, but it requires squinting just right.
Just got the Buck. I think it was $20 at Wal-Mart. Buck-Rail scope mount and bipod. The optic I already had. Been experimenting with different BBs too.

Best BBs so far look like the Hornady Black Diamonds. At 17 feet (five and two thirds yards) here's a 5 shot group. Overall size is 15/16", with 4 into 1/2". I've found on this Buck and my Red Ryder the triggers get much better with use.
Who says a 67 year old can't have a few BB guns for fun? I also gave a Daisy new model 25.

Rested it'll hit a Cambells tomato soup can at 15-17 yards most of the time.
I got the idea for this from a review that Tom Gaylord did. He tested the Buck with the open sights, then used this mount and scoped it and put on this bipod. All groups with all BBs improved, some by quite a bit. When asked how he accounted for the improvement, he said he felt it was 80% due to the bipod.
A gent who calls his YouTube page Cali Air has a bit of a tongue in cheek video of the ten best reasons why a Daisy Buck is the best gun in the world. Not just best air gun. Best gun!
And, the gent whose YouTube page is called, Oh Shoot, bought a Buck and scoped it. I think he's a better shooter than me though.
So, for fun, I got this new Buck. At 67 with some serious health problems, cheap entertainment helps me forget for a while. I have a whopping $46.00 into the Buck. I already had the red/green dot optic. I'm having some fun, recalling my early days with a lever action BB gun, and no-one is getting hurt. For my night ratting, I'll still go with my 880 or Crossman F4 though.

Nice job. I prefer something other than opens myself. At least with an optic,... you will be giving it it's best try.

Cool modifications and great shooting!
There are BBs available that increase MV because they fit the shot tube tighter so there is less pressure lost from blow-by. The tighter fit also potentially increases accuracy. There are two BBs that fall into this category: One is Daisy Match Grade Avanti Precision Ground Shot, they were made for the Daisy model 499 and are an important part of why the 499 is called "The World's Most Accurate BB Gun”. And the larger of the two is the Marksman Premium Grade Steel BBs w/Speedloader. Both are sold by Pyramyd Air (links below). The Marksman BBs need to be trial fit into any gun you plan to use them in. So far, they have fit through the shot tubes of the 1938B and 105B, as well as fitting the No. 25 pump BB gun spring-loaded shot tube, but you should verify they fit before loading them into your guns.
Another thing that really helps accuracy in a smoothbore Daisy BB gun (pertains to other brands as well) is to keep the barrel free of oil. I use denatured alky (91% isopropyl will do) on a .177 felt mop, but patches work just as well.

(there are also Marksman "Laserhawk" BBs listed on the PA site- they are NOT the same as the Marksman Premium Grade Steel BBs)

They might sound like a lot of work till you realize you only need 3-4 pumps for plinking.

They're a great gun for less than $20, I make a longer stock whenever I get one because it's cheap enough to be cost effective to do so.

I actually had some of the Marksman BBs. I had bought them a few years ago and never tried them. I also had the Hornady, I Unarex, and lots of the standard Daisys, but no Avantis. I bought some of the new Crosman Black Widows yesterday, but haven't tried them yet. There us also Air Venturi and Swiss Arns BBs, but I don't have these.
The Marksman started off really well, but accuracy seemed to worsen a bit as I shot. The Umarex and Daisy didn't do so well for me. I will try the Marksmans again with the Hornadys and will try out the new Corpsman Black Windows. I don't have any of the standard Crosman BBs, as I have heard negatives about them in the past.
Then, I will have to test all of these in my Red Ryder as well. It only has maybe 200 BBs through it so far. I do notice the RR trigger has broken in nicely, and the Buck trigger is improving on its own. Then there is my model 25!
I had zero problrms with the Marksman BBs feeding in the Buck, and don't think I had even one "miss fire".
I'd like to be able to get one inch groups or better at 7 yards with these, but don't know been if that may be asking too much.
I'm enjoying this very much. You should know that, since I started hand loading ammunition, under STRICT supervision by my dad, I really got into the hand loading processes, and the search for best accuracy. I loved the search, and have probably loaded maybe twenty different calibers, many for a friend of mine. I consider this fun. I competed in 200 meter IHMSA handgun matches, NRA Hunter Pistol, and dome bowling pin matches. So testing BBs in a new gun doesn't phase me one bit.

I posted in another thread about trying to get my wife back into shooting. It looks like a good bet thanks to what I said was 2 red ryders. It's actually an adult red ryder and a Daisy Buck with a red ryder stock on it. We're plinking off hand but accuracy has been good with Daisy precision max bbs. Thanks to you, I'm going to have to place my 4th order from Buck Rail.

Thanks for your comment, EdinGa! I believe it was $26.00 for the scope rail and bipod. Bear in mind that if you want to mount a conventional rifle scope, you'll need Weaver or Piccatinny rings. I have a BSA red dot that has a mount that fits both types of mounts. It has a mount that flips over, one side for dovetail, 11mm, 3/8", and the other for Weaver, Piccatinny. Very well thought out! Most dot sights, due to my eyesight problems, do not present me with a crisp, sharp round dot. Rather, I get "spikes" in the dot that I have to deal with. Most crosshair scopes give me a better sight picture, so I may try mounting one on the Buck to see if it helps. But, I have to but a set of Weaver rings for it.
I paw fed off the edge of my brick fire pit to the muzzle of the Buck. I keep a standard sized tin can there, and take a shot at it now and then. It's right about 50 feet. So, between 16 and 17 yards. When I have the Buck week's in well, almost every shot is a hit on the can. Doesn't always fall over, but I can hear the hit. I put the dot dead center on the can.
My son and his girl friend are coming for a ten day visit in July. I had them shooting one or two of my air guns last time. Both my Buck and Red Ryder have dot sights on them. I see a shooting session or two on their horizon.
