It has been to cold to get out and shoot my Winchester 1977 but I have worked on the trigger.Bought a Wheeler trigger gauge so I could check results.Trigger pull before removal of the flat spring was 7lbs.Trigger pull after removal of the flat spring is 6lbs.I was hoping that it would be less than that. But that may be as good as it gets.I have a 1978 model medal 880 that never had a flat spring, the trigger pull is 4.5lbs on it. Hoping the Winny will get better with more use.
I have taken the flat spring out of a couple of 1977s and have only gotten a pound or so of improvement. The next thing will be to try substituting a lighter trigger/hammer spring. With having to overcome the higher chamber pressure that this gun produces, I dont think the 880 spring will work. Somewhere in between maybe?

I might try Ozark Airgun Hunter's plastic shim mod before removing the flat spring... that seems to have more effect.

Made the trigger pull twice as worse. It was really hard to pull. Also the safety wouldn't work. Oddly, the trigger would pull when the safety was on. I took my Winnie apart again and took that shim out.Flat spring is out of mine and I used the credit card fix for the back of the trigger. Trigger pull isn't very good, but its not 6 lbs.
My first attempt at wood forearms for my 1922 project.
Also, I have a question for those of you that got your 1977 from academy. There seem to be two listings now. One for $63.99 and one for $69.99. Which one did you buy and did yours come with a scope?

Has anyone tried any of the usual power mods(I don't know what any of them are as I am new to the 880) for the 880 on the 1977? I saw the trigger mod talked about here doesn't work. Just trying to figure out what does and doesn't work. Probably will be a while before that is all figured out. I don't know if anyone asked, but do these come with the mid barrel supports that the 901 have?
