Awesome group Mr. Ray, and I agree, those Charlie Frear PT Crickets don't get the praise they deserve.
I have a question. Do most of the NUAH shooters, zero at say 50 or 60 yds. Then use hold over at the 100 yd mark?
I've got my Boss zeroed at 55 yds and still have a 7 stadia holdover at 100 yds with Sightron on 30 power.

I have a Mueller 8-32x44 on my .22 PT Cricket but it's zeroed at 28 yds. Don't have enough mildots for holdover at the 100 yd mark with scope on 24 power. I gotta refigure with a new zero to give it a whirl. Don't know how you guys do it on lower scope power? With all this 100 yd shooting, now I have to remember hold unders as well as holdovers for the closer stuff!

All this 100 yd shooting is new ground for me. I've mostly stayed inside 60yds. I did manage a few 1.25" hundred yd groups with the Cricket when I had the Sightron mounted on it. Just trying to work it out where I can try it with the Mueller.

If I can, I'll give it a whirl with 3 guns this time. The .22 Cricket, the .30 Boss, and the .25 FX 500 if it gets here before this contest ends.

Thanks for letting me get in on the excitement!

edited in correct scope...got so many get them mixed up

I have 4 PCP I shoot at 100 or more yards, all sighted in at 50. Also optically center the scopes on them and mount with Burris adjustable rings. 3 of those rifles have FFP scopes and the turrets are moved up 3.5 on all when shooting at 100, which does surprise me because the are 22,25, and 30 cal.

Thanks Ray, So your sighted in at 50 but turning your turrets 3.5 revolutions up when shooting 100. Not using hold over?
I've got Sightron on both FX with FX No Limit rings. Or will have when the 500 gets here.
When I mounted the No Limit rings on the Boss, I had scope optically centered and was able to put the vertical within a fraction of an inch with ring adjustment. Horizontal was only off maybe an inch at most. Which I corrected with the windage knob.

I only shoot my "regular" sighting (usually 40-50 yards) when I'm shooting NUAH.... However, anyone SERIOUS about it should really resight at 100, so that you can hold on the center to eliminate the effect of rifle cant.... You still have to make sure your scope is installed with the vertical crosshair intersecting the barrel.... but a slight cant to the gun won't throw your shot wildly off to the side like it can when using holdover....

Thanks Bob, maybe I'll bite the bullet and start adjusting the elevation Turret for the 100 yd shots.
I think I'll keep the Boss sighted in at 50 because of the power it's putting out and I rarely shoot it closer. Then mark the turret knob for the 100 yd shots. My bench is at 100 yds and a foot measured with a sports tape just to make sure I'm not cutting any corners. But when I shoot from the back porch, it's 106 yards and that six yards accounts for another whole stadia holdover with the Sightron on 30 power. Crazy!

Maybe keep the Cricket at 28 yds and just crank the turret up for the long shots. And I'll figure the Royale out when she gets here, but probably same as the Cricket.

Hoping to get Dillon back on here when he get's his Mini Raptor ;-)

Thanks again , Fuss

Nice target Ray.

Jimmy, I have the scope on my .30 HMX zeroed at 100 yds, my .25 HMX at 50 and then dial up on the elevation when I shoot 100 with it. Every once in a while for fun I'll shoot my.177 TM at 100 for fun and just use holdover(a lot of it  ;D) as I have that zeroed in at 30 yards. Like Bob said....I also take a lot of care to make sure the vertical cross hairs on the scope intersect the center of the rifle barrel.

Thanks Marty, yeah I'd like to try it with my .177 Thomas, but have the Hector Sightron on it for FT  and it's set for 9 to 55 yds. Get's real fuzzy after 60yds. I rarely shoot it passed 50 yds anymore, so not gonna mess with it.
Waiting on my other Hector Sightron to get back today from being reparallaxed to 10yds to 300 yds, so I can use it for this 100 yds stuff.

Took a real long time for me to get comfortable at 50 yd shooting, so this is a whole new ball game. Appreciate everyone's help.

Heck, shooting a Veteran Long in .22, even with its CZ barrel I feel like I'm bringin' a knife to a gunfight.  This contest distance has gotten serious!

Yes I do use the turrets, because I have tested to see that they are accurate and repeatable. I use hold over sometimes to compare and get the same results. The scopes have been set up using the mirrow method and also have a bubble level. Have you tried 100 with less than 30x. I would try 16x or so and dial to 30 to check impact if needed.

Tony, best I've done with my .22 Cricket is 1.2 inches, but have shot many 1.5" at 100.
Shot three at 1.5" back to back in one sitting and gave up! LOL So, I know what you mean about the knife to a gun fight.

Wasn't going to join the NUAH club until I could get a sub one inch group.

But when I got this FX Boss from my buddy Derrick. I zeroed it at 55 yds and was printing one big hole with no flyers for about 4 groups at 55 yds.
Then got some paper out at 100 yds to find my holdover. Once I determined it was a little over 7 stadia down from the crosshairs. I shot a sub 3/4" 5 shot group on the very first try. Now it was nowhere near the X ring, but my first ever anything like that? I almost crapped my pants?

I immediately called Derrick to ask if he had sent me weighed and sorted pellets? LOL. He said no. And everything I've shot since has been straight from the tin. So, I have a whole new respect for .30 cal!

I jut never thought I would love .30 like I do? Heck it's worth it to pay twice the money on pellets for twice the accuracy? LOL

Edited in for Ray......

Ray the lowest power I've used so far is 20 power. I'm just comfortable with 30, so I can see what I'm doing as I'm doing it! LOL

Name....Burgaw....Jimmy
Airgun....FX Boss
Sights....Sightron SIII on 30 power
Pellet/Bullet ....JSB .30 cal 44.75 gr unsorted straight from the tin
Position....standing bench , front bipod, rear bag at 106 yds from back porch
Wind.....dead calm
Score and Group Size..... 50/50 4x and 0.925 ctc

OK, I step out on the porch after feeding all the critters and trying to make up my mind to shoot or head to Hardees for breakfast this morning. I noticed it was dead calm? Ha, that's a no brainer….breakfast can wait.

Aired the Boss up to 250 bar. I always put a splatter target on the barrel under the NUAH target and shot it first to get my bearings.
Shot five shots at it, then proceeded to shoot the NUAH target. First shot was dead in the bulls eye. Second shot was high, then three more shots in the bullseye.  I knew it was a good target from looking through the scope, but was still concerned about the flyer messing everything up?

Holy frikkin' Moly. It scored a 50/50 with 4x's and measured 0.925 center to center. Yeah baby….I can hear Rick Rehm say "Come On Man" in my head.

Peace and NUAH grease

Well that certainly sets the bar pretty high for this month! Nice shooting.
I'd say your doing pretty well when a 10 ring shot is the flyer of the group.

They also said that artificial sweeteners were safe, WMDs were in Iraq, and Anna Nicole married for love!"

My FX Royale 500 should be here by the end of the week, I'll see what it does on here as well! I've never had anything that can touch this Boss, so will probably be disappointed?

Oh man, I got worried about that .30 hole being plugged and possibly touching the 9 ring line, so I plugged it with a pellet. Room to spare. Whew!
