I've killed big Hogs with less powerful guns than the Sumatra Carbine, proper shot placement and right pellet is more important than raw power,

Baracudas and Benjamin pellets are great and usually shoot well out of Sumatras, JSB 34gr didn't exist when I had Sumatra but I would be surprised if they wasn't accurate so I would give them a try, also those are surprisingly hard pellets.

Here is a thread with several pictures and info about head shooting hogs

It takes some trial and error to find a slug that will outperform pellets in small bore guns.  I've tried several different slugs in my sumatra and have yet to find one that outperform the pellets that shoot well in it.  I would just use whatever pellet that works great in your gun and concentrate on hitting a good shot.  You have enough energy to get the job done so shot placement is the key.

Agreed.

Thanks a lot everyone. I have some Benjamin domes and barracudas. Wasn't sure if 40 yards was too far.

Jim Chapman killed a pig with a 28 FPE 22 cal Brocock at 40 yards, so the Sumatra carbine will more than handle them at 40 yards.

Seems you have enough power and 40 yards is a good distance with that gun.  Head shot behind eye and you should drop em like a bad habit.  Trick like so many are going to tell you is the pellet/bullet placement.  Hogs are hardy animals.  A through and through the heart and lung and that bad boy will run quite a few yards before dropping.  Solid headshot and they'll drop over kicking.

I wish you good luck!  Dropping a hog with an air gun is a bucket list thing to do for many of us.  Glad you have the chance!

Given the choice,
I much prefer the frontal shot rather than the side shot.

Got one last night. Loading pictures on photobucket now. I live in the country and internet is slow here. Definitely not easy due to hogs head is always moving. My feeder goes off at 9pm and 10:30pm. Hogs won't come to it in the daytime. I did like you said Manny and waited for the frontal shot. Seemed like I waited forever and I would've shot another one but they ran off and I was shaky. There was 5 or 6 young pigs, a boar, and a sow. I shot the sow. She dropped in the mud right there. Pulled it out with my 4 wheeler. Thanks for all the advice guys.
