Tommy ..... email it to your computer address, then download it to your pictures library, or desktop.  Then attach from GTA when your posting.
I think you have a winning target, I saw no 8's, lot of 9's & 10's .... and X's.  I think you own an FGX puffer, you figured that thing out but can't post a picture?   :o

You can also resize pictures in "Paint" and other editors.
Hey Mike ..... talk is cheap ..... post your score .... Joe's gonna post a 200!

PlanB............... if you have a Printer/Scanner just scan the target as a jpeg, save it in a folder and then attach it to your post. By cropping and adjusting the resolution you can easily keep it under the 200KB max. I find it easier to to do than going the camera route. Just my 2 cents.

I'll post stats for now and try pic, if it don't work moderator will add later. It's 197,7x which probably will never be done again by me, I'd like to crow a minute if I can!!

After you enter the text in GTA touch attachments. Then touch existing pics then hit the pic you saved.

Nice shooting Joe!!

It is nice to see some new shooters plus more members participating this year compared to last year. Also it looks like we have some very competitive scores being put up. This will make for some pretty competitive shooting making things more competitive.

I finally have my new AA HFT 500 all set up and sighted in so I better get going to get my target shot so I can get it in by tomorrows deadline.

Someone has to bring up the rear!  I'm proud of keeping all my shots on the scoring rings this time.  Even better, had a great time shooting in the woods behind the house today!  Spotted a hawk, red headed wood pecker, some ducks cruising overhead, an eastern bluebird, and, oh yeah, I found this piece paper of paper with circles all over it, so I shot it up!

Regarding posting target scans, I have good success scanning my targets in color at 150 dpi with GIMP (http://www.gimp.org), then I use the rectangle select tool and set the aspect ratio to fixed at 8.5:11 (or 5.5:8.5 for half sheet targets) and the measurement units to inches, next I select my target from the scan image and choose Image>Crop to Selection, then I export as a jpeg at 40% quality to stay under 200K.

My first attempt this season. I have bumped my .25 SynRod up from 41 fpe to 52 fpe, shooting 25.39gr jsb's at about 960 fps. So I wasn't sure how the accuracy would be, but it seems Ok so far.

I shot a 198/200 last season. :o Looking for a 200/200 this season, but not this week! :-[

Joe, love the smack talk ...... and what great scores posted.  Not sure if this is a good turnout so far, if it is not, we need to make this visible to everyone when they log in, or somehow get their attention.  This is a blast.

I think Steve & the Squatch have both burned through about 20 targets, attempting to put a beat-down on Joe's score for springers.

Random Plinker .... you shot from sticks?  Fantastic, I'd like to be able to do that well.  BTW, this was a BENCH rest contest, not a STICK rest contest!  :P  Just messin' with ya .... but I would say you handicapped yourself considerably using sticks.

Good shooting, all of you .... and even better that we participated.

What plug in are you using for scanning with GIMP?
I tried X-Sane, but it filled in the holes, unless it was in the 9 or the lines, they all disappeared.
Might be my scanner.  I have one of those all in one, HP.  Does have a flatbed.

Otherwise I am doing the take a pic, manipulate to the correct kb/scale, export to png and post.

I don't use a plug-in, just the WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) driver for my printer/scanner.  From GIMP: File>Create>Scanner/Camera> then select "WIA-WIA Canon MP280 ser 1.0 (32-32)".  My Canon MP280 printer/scanner must be turned on for the WIA option to available, otherwise, I get the Canon software interface that came with the printer - similar to your description.  Good luck!

Thank you for the kind words Pappy!  It's been hard to get to local field target matches, but I like to practice HFT style when I can.  My new "seat" - a Hunter's Specialties Two-Way Strut Seat - sits ~6.5" off the ground so I can rest my elbows along side my knees now.  I'm hoping my scores will go up a bit if I keep hanging around with you guys in here!  I know its possible - I've seen some amazing consistent shooting at field target matches.

Speaking of amazing shooting - Norm and Kim, wow!  199, 198 and a few X's apart.  Awesome!

That new (and very expensive) haircut must've lowered my score this week. I just don't feel like myself with it. I better go back to hiding in bushes and growing my hair fast. :D

Well I think everyone deserves a round of applause as all the posted targets showed some serious scores.
Boy I think the HPA guys better be looking out as the jumpers are coming on strong really doing a great job.

The matches are great fun and serious at the same time. It's nice to see more scores posted compared to last year's four or so for each match.

Ok all you other GTA members come and enjoy the fun!

Thank you all for your kind words. I have to admit that I was really surprised by my last target, and coming from a D34 nonetheless.
I do not think I can consistently get scores in the high 190-s (or even in low 190-s) with either of my rifles, so there will be weeks when I'd eating your dust.

This was just a nice way to get Joe motivated. ;)  BTW, Joe, I'm sorry about your phone.

Hey Norm
I quoted you here and messed it up. I don't know how to delete, I asked moderators to delete but they haven't got it yet.
I'm afraid I might have offended you, I apologize if I did. I was trying to be funny but it didn't work! Great shooting.

Do y'all use full power for matches? I'm trying medium power as I'm trying to improve enough to stay in the ball park with y'all.

With a disclaimer that I'm giving you a "book learning" answer Tommy, I suspect you would do fine moving up in power with your 22 Fx r 400.  My understanding is that keeping pellet velocity in the high 800 to low 900 fps range is best for accuracy to stay below approaching the speed of sound, which I've heard leads to some pellet flight stability issues.  With a 22, your shooting heavier pellets that are more likely to stay below this threshold for the same power level.  So in the end, I think it's velocity that you need to keep an eye on more than power.  Velocity also has more bearing on how flat your rifle shoots  - not  a big deal if you know which dot to use, or you are zeroed at 30 yards, but flatter is easier all else being equal.  I don't have an air rifle fast enough to worry about approaching the speed of sound - others with more experience can confirm/correct as needed.

As a point of trivia on this match, for an "average" scope height over the barrel, and pellet velocity ~900 fps, 30 yards is very close (a bit long by a yard or two, but close enough) to the sweet spot for zeroing your scope so you only have one "zero".  By this, I mean that if you are dead on at 30 yards, you need to hold over for both shorter and longer distances, and don't need to worry about holding under for when the pellet is above the line of sight, cause it never is.  Less to keep up with that way.

Thanks Eric, I didn't make myself clear. I've been shooting full power buy just yesterday decided to try lower power. Not sure which is best for me yet.
Also not sure it will matter at 30 yd.
Title: Re: Post 30 Yard Rested Air Rifle Match 2 Year 7 Scores Here

I agree with Eric, adding that for a given pellet at higher velocity the shot will be less perturbed by wind.  ie, at higher FPS, the pellet takes less time to target and less time to be thrown off by wind.

But there are other factors to consider.  There may be differences in shot string FPS consistency (extreme spread, SD, etc) between fills at different power settings, which could also affect POI.  And there may be difference in recoil.

Besides running chrony strings you could test empirically by shooting practice targets alternating power setting, and look for differences in average score.

Thanks y'all, may I ask a question and argue with the answer?
I think that serious shooters , Olympics and stuff like that, use those 500 fps guns?
I thought it was because they are more accurate but maybe it hast a rule and nothing to do with accuracy?

Hey Tommy .... in regard to full power .... I always use full power with my SPRINGER!  The shooter may not be full power.  I think it was Confucius who said ... "Man who shoot at lower power, go off half-cocked"   :o   :P

I shot about 100 at 2/3 power, around 700 fps if memory serves me which ain't likely, anyway somewhere in the 100 shots, I thought it was gona shoot same accuracy as full power but then it seemed to get worse so I'm back to full.
I say "seemed" to get worse because I'm seldom sure if it's me,wind, pellets, gun or what!
