Title: Huben v. Rat...
Post by: Rat Sniper (AKA: PaulT58) on April 19, 2021, 09:24:09 PM
The Rat won...  This time!

https://youtu.be/wHLSS22P5Z4

I think I need to put some more pellets down the barrel to get it settled in a bit more.  I was trying to do a double tap also, probably should have just concentrated more on one clean shot!  Hard to tell from the video, but I think it was a clean miss.  I guess I'll know for sure if he shows up again.

Paul! Man...I see the paint/wood fly behind it...h'mmm...tried to see where the impact on the board was but don't see any new marks! You might have gut shot it as he was blocking the view of the board. If I accidently pull the trigger too early my shots hit a tad low. Well, like you said if he shows up or not you'll know! Nice video! I bet your heart was RACING! The weather is warming, more will come!

Hmmm, yeah I definitely saw stuff fly up in the air - hey maybe if he Mohawk'd him, would stuff still fly up like that?  ;D ;D ;D

Clearly, that was a ninja-rat.
It caught a glimmer of light off your scope,  then heard the sound of your finger on the trigger,  & then it threw some sawdust into the air to confuse you as it turned to make its escape.

Legend has it that these highly-skilled stealth rodents used to only exist in Feudal Japan,  but then around 1980 a pair of them made their way to America in the trunk of a Datsun 510.
These days they can mostly be found in the alleys behind sushi restaurants,  though very rarely they can make their way to residential neighborhoods.

True story, dude.   ;D

Thanks Randall, that video was a lot shakier than normal, it was hard to see exactly where the pellets hit, and yes, there were 2!  There was one out this morning, don't know if it's the same one or not since there were 3.  I'll have to keep the surveillance going to know for sure!

Hmmm, yeah I definitely saw stuff fly up in the air - hey maybe if he Mohawk'd him, would stuff still fly up like that?  ;D ;D ;D

Charlie, if that were the case, he should be easy to spot when he returns, especially os he dyes it pink!

LOL!  Great story Allan!  I do believe some of these rats do possess Ninja Powers!  I didn't realize they got here by string away in a Datsun!  Sneaky little guys!

That's a really big RAT! I can't tell for sure but I know you are a very good shooter and they do sometimes run off after a hit.

Well I vote for cross cutting the pellet head w/a razor blade for the next shot or shots...

...but then you might need multiple cameras set at different angles to catch all the body parts flying off in various directions...

I may have to switch to the 25.4 grain FX or JSB pellets, those shot the best with hardly any flyers!

Well I vote for cross cutting the pellet head w/a razor blade for the next shot or shots...

So, you're telling me to shoot Ninja Rats I need Ninja Pellets?

That's a really big RAT! I can't tell for sure but I know you are a very good shooter and they do sometimes run off after a hit.

Thanks Johnny!  I think I'd have gotten him with my Mrod or one of the FX rifles, these semi-auto's tend to be a tad wonky sometimes, especially on the first shot after sitting a while!  But, if he's still alive, he will be back!   ;D

I'm going with this explanation.

Tonight's project is to part the backs of some 25.4 grain FX Pellets so I can see where they are going!  This video I could not see the pellet, so it's really difficult to troubleshoot what went wrong!  Maybe just some funny Rat-Fu Ninja move, where the pellet just went through some magical opening that manifested itself on the rat!  You know, like those black holes Wiley Coyote used to toss on the ground for the Roadrunner to fall into!   :P

Oh no! Not a Bermuda triangularwhachamajiggy where the rats are! Not to despair, an FX or Marauder will fix that vortex! 😉

Just went to watch it, and then commented. And upon further rewatching it was not a huuuuge gash of streaming rat's blood like I thought, but a red -- bird of some kind?

The same as Randall... an XSH Cam and I have two, they are awesome and only because of Randall that I am using it.

Pretty sure it's this one:

I bought a wifi network extender from Home Depot for $20ish and name the cameras according to which network they are on.

Example:
network_ID_01, backyard PB station
network_ID__01_ext, bedroom office suet cake station

If I move the extender to the front of the house I can set it up for RECREATIONAL bird watching at the bird bath.

I have a great time with it, killing rats and watching the yellow finch takes baths.

Posted this video many times because it's my best thus far. It's hard to get video because they are so few rats and they are wee bit wary.
https://youtu.be/Vz2HboQ-tU8

Sorry if I am hijacking but it is rat related and we all LOVE shooting them.

Hey Johnny the rat in the second video got absolutely Blasted sideways out of the frame compared to the rat in the first video, was a different ammo or gun used? ???

Hmmm, if settings were unchanged on the gun then the 25.4 grains may have had something to do with it... ;D

Pretty sure the Hades is MOST destructive. The dairy starling flop over real good with a Hades Helper.

So what velocities are you getting between the two? Just wondering what kind of FPE you are making.

JSB / FX 25.4 = 908
Hades 26.54 = 885

I will measure again but that's pretty close

WHOOPS, my bad! For some reason I thought it was a .22 Hades (15.89-gr) you were shooting, haw!

Yeah, that triple clover leaf expansion of the Hades should tear da Hay-ull outta that rat...!

Yea, it gets confusing when you just reference the weight, the .25 JSB and .22 JSB Monsters are the same weight!  My .22 JSB Redesigned 25.4 grain's are flying at around 970 FPS from the Huben!
