I'm sure this is an acceptable place for this post. If you mods feel there should be a more grand location for this, I totally understand.
It's very frustrating that we have so many helpful walk-through's, repairs, how to's, reviews, mods, etc. that "use to" have so many helpful pictures. A lot of people can't just envision the details on how to do something without pics. It's not only this forum I see it on so many various other forums that photobucket completely ruined.
So here is a simple hack to solve the default pic that PB used for all those helpful threads with pictures.
Go to your post.
Hit "modify", go to the URL string for the image and where it ends with "jpeg" simply type in
"~original"
right after jpeg, so it will now read "jpeg~original" (no quotes of course) then hit "save"
Here is a thread of mine that was ruined by PB and I did this to the top pic. I didn't do it to the rest yet so you guys can see the magic of a couple words. Not sure how long this will work for or if they will catch on? I feel they will probably be going out of business soon. In the mean time I encourage any helpful threads all y'all have to do this to. So to help all future air-gunners, motorcyclist, powder burners, machinist, whatever other sites you guys are goofing with.

I'll give that a try. I ended up taking care of most of my pic problems already but I think I do have some that still are the photobucket garb.

Thanks a bunch! I just fixed a whole lot of photos. For how long IDK.
The ones I couldn't fix were the photos I took of the 2017 GTA Fun Shoot. GTA removed the modify button on those post, otherwise I could fix them.

I received an email the other day from photobucket and they're trying to reel me in for about $120 a year, why the heck would I do that when Flickr works just fine for free ???

Probably trying to profit via taken peoples' photos "hostage". Dirty tactic out of greed. A new CEO probably took over and looking to maximize profit.

So your using there editing code function against them, very well done sir. They would have to declare a new function for the original picture while editing photos on there site to change it. :)

It's nice to be able to give them a taste of their own medicine 8) I had the subscription to them for years too, there was absolutely no warning when they basically put the cabash on everyone.

Say, how do you guys insert photos in between your paragraphs like that? I mean how can it be done using the generic photo attachment tool that comes with GTA? ??? ??? ???

I don't think it can be done. ??? Mine are always at the end. But watching for an answer to the contrary.

I think that photo bucket pics would have to be moved somewhere else for permanent resolution to the problem.
I could never figure out how to place pics in between paragraphs either.

Host (store) your photos online in a free account. Use the "Insert Image" shortcut and paste the assigned URL anywhere you want the photo to appear. Between paragraphs, at the beginning or at the end. Works fine.

Hmmm, can't get it to recognize the file. Is there a specific photo download site that provides more workable links?

When PhotoBucket decided to hold my pics hostage a few years ago I saved my pics to a couple CDs, deleted my PB account, opened new free photo hosting account and saved the photos from the CD to the new site.
The replacement for PB was imgur.

When PhotoBucket decided to hold my pics hostage a few years ago I saved my pics to a couple CDs, deleted my PB account, opened new free photo hosting account and saved the photos from the CD to the new site.
The replacement for PB was imgur.

Imgur without any warning closed my account. Upon further inquiry, I come to find out that my graphic hunting photos were a violation to their policy. Ok, fine......but, what annoys me was the zero communications prior to permanently shutting down my account.

Yeah sorry, still can't get it to work - as soon as I hit the Submit button after "trying" to create a new album on GTA (not sure what I'm doing wrong), it comes back as "Database Error" for some reason and to contact forum admin.
Oh well for now I could just put all pics along the bottom like I do now. ;)

Then I downloaded and saved the photo and put the photo in a folder in the documents part. That worked. When I tried to attach the photo to a GTA reply it said the attachment was to big or took too long to load. Tomorrow is another day.

The BEST way to add photos is to upload them to a free storage website and use the link they assign a photo to Insert Image into a post.

Hugh, as you have read from all these posts, there are multiple ways to upload a picture onto a GTA post. It can be very difficult if you are not technologically savvy.
I would say the best way to learn is hands-on. If you can get a technologically savvy individual (typically a young person) that can show this to you, it'll be significantly easier. Once you see it done, it will much, much clearer than trying to decipher word instructions.
Also, nearly every phone and computer software is set up slightly different, so it's unlikely anyone can give you the exact step by step instructions. You being from NZ, chances are your software is going to be slightly different from those of us from the USA.
