Sheridan accuracy

I was checking point of impact on a couple of air guns today. I got out a Sheridan(1967) that I haven't shot for 3 to 4 months. At 25 yards I was getting 1 to 2 inch 3 shot groups. Not good! After about a dozen shots the gun started shooting dime sized groups. That is the size groups I expect from this gun. Any ideas on why the large groups? I don't think it was me because the guns I shot first printed small (dime sized) groups.

Maybe because after the 3 to 4 months, your first few shots
A) moved the oil around?
B) seated the pump cup a bit after the "set"

I agree with Scott. Oil residue inside the barrel can raise havoc on accuracy. I would cycle the gun several times until no more oil is collecting inside the barrel & wipe clean. If this doesn't work get yourself a chrony, that is if you don't already have one. It'll let you know real quick if it's the pump cup or seals.
