Title: tri-5-ron's camo in progress
Post by: shadow on December 06, 2015, 03:10:26 PM
Doing another camo project for a GTA brother and going off his camo idea's I'm working on putting a twist on em. We wanted some critters in the camo so after laying the camo I ripped open some area's and placed some critters. I still have more work to do, critters, crosshairs etc. but getting there. I have a identical stock from him to camo for his buddy and the gears are turning on that one as I work on this one. My fusebox is at full capacity lol. Ed

Thank the Lord you like it brother lol since I would need to create a new batch of stencils if you didn't hehe. Each pattern is a stencil which is hand drawn then cut and more time is spent creating the custom stencils then laying the pattern and colors down. Ed

Thanks brothers and a little background on my camo designs and why I jumped into it. I love the standard camo designs, RealTree, MossyOak etc. but there all the same patterns so to speak. Everyone get's the same patterns on their shooters and themselves. I wanted to step outside of the camo norm and do something different as well as something that is one of a kind. I make a point of making each camo design just one time. Each person get's a camo that no one else has or will have so if someone ask them where can I get that camo design they say "you can't" hehehe. Now if I can get the lovely wife to stitch me up some of these designs on hunting clothes we'd be set lol. Ed

Shadow that's is truly amazing work! I love the "one off" approach you take to each design. I'm gonna have to give some thought to what I'd want and have you put our awesome work on. Stock for myself down the road! Looks great and keep on rocking your talents!

Thank you kindly and happy brother Ron is liking it. My thought's on camo...take good ole camo and twist the heck out of it to come up with something that is still workable camo in the hunting field but also something you can hang above the bed, if the better half allows. But Honey it is art with a kick lol. Ed

Cool !  No one here will ever forget who "The Shadow" is !
just a heads-up, I DO intend to put a forward sling stud on it so that a standard Harris type, Caldwell type, Bipod can be mounted,... so keep that in mind, to do the autograph far enough back from the front, so that the bipod mounting/resting plate thingy does not cover up the Sig.

THANKS AGAIN.

Thanks brother and our FireCat brother has the finished pics. I sent him several during the process but finished it up and sent it home for him to show and tell. Your stock is getting some Predator pellets ripping through it tomorrow hehe. The paint type cause we don't want to be slinging lead at your custom camo stock lol. I have a few more things I want to do to it then we'll seal it up to protect it from the elements. I already have some idea's for you buddies stock and won't spare any camo creativity on it. Now it's off for some night pest control despite the lack of any critters which still surprises me since the weather has been critter friendly. I've been out each night after 8pm until the wee hours of the morning but the predators are staying clear of the hen houses. Time to move back down to the woods and meet em half way. Ed

Just happened to have a spare FD-PCP stock that I rattle canned with bed liner. It has some finger prints and runs in it. When time permits, I'll strip that off and send it to the GURU to be themed for "The Black Mamba". No need for camo on this one, just pure snake. Gotta keep Ed's creative juices flowing.

The nutter is still drying then we'll range em and put the crosshairs on em. Title: Re: tri-5-ron's camo in progress
Post by: Gertrude on December 14, 2015, 04:03:54 PM
Ron... how in the world are you going to decide which one to keep and which one to give to your buddy?

The Silhouette Critters w/Polymags stock is MINE BABY !,... ALL MINE !  ;)  ;D
 But truth be told,...
Shadow had asked me to give him some sort of "theme" or idea's on what I would like. He was very concerned about creating something that I would like very much. I had initially told him to just create whatever he felt like doing in his own mind's eye, and that no matter what, I would be proud to own it and I'd be happy with whatever he wanted to do.
Well,... that wasn't quite good enough I guess, and he pressed me a little more for at least some sort of idea or direction to go in. I responded with something like:

"OK,... I'll toss a few things out that I am imagining, but YOU are the Artist,... and YOU have the better "Vision" than I do... and besides, I do not want to take anything away from your creativity, and you have FULL ARTISTC FREEDOM to use, or delete, or interpret, any of these idea's as you see fit".

I suggested we go with a background that matched or simulated the grassy/corn stock/hay bale looking camo that I wear when pesting on the farms. He said, "Great !, send me a pic !,... and then we'll figure out the rest after that !".

( After That ?,... HMmm,... Heck I was thinkin' that WAS going to be the camo job")... but now I gotta come up with a "After THAT" ?

Well OK then, lets try something. Lets try tossing in a "story-line" to the camo job.
You know, making the camo job be something like reading one of Shadows GREAT hunting stories !

Something that is just as cool to look at,... as it is to be reading his stories, and feeling like you are sitting right there with him during the hunt!
How COOL would THAT be ? ? ?

So I said,... (and I'll reiterate here, he has full freedom to use or delete or change whatever he felt like),...

"ok,... uhmm,... how about some silhouette's of my pesting critters ?, maybe put them in some crosshairs ? maybe toss in a pellet heading towards them ? or if that's too busy, then do whatever you think is going to work..... or just do whatever comes into your head... I'll be happy with whatever you come up with".

Well,... needless to say, Shadow has gone Above and BEYOND on this Camo job, (at least in my opinion anyway), and in fact he HAS created a "Story Telling" with this FANTASTIC Camo & pics & personal touches all coming together in the Beautiful piece of Art !
I will Cherish it FOREVER !

as far as my buddy Jeff's stock goes,...
To heck with him,  He gets "Rocks" LOL!
(but then again,... ! won't be one bit surprised with what Shadow ends up doing to it !)
They BOTH will be "Over the Top".
Of that I am Sure !

Brother Ron's camo is wrapping up and will post pics soon cause.....I want to put one more thing on it. ;) I was set on putting crosshairs on a critter but after doing some test runs on an old stock I had laying around I found that even after several color samples, red, white, green and black the crosshairs wouldn't stand out like I wanted. >:( It finally came to me what a shooters stock needed...a silhouette of a shooter. I see a hunter with his shooter shouldered and ready to shoot. Sorry about the crosshairs brother but this will be a nice addition to the theme. 8) Now for Ron's buddies stock I laid more smaller stones and I'm visualizing various animal tracks making there way around the stock. Then I see branches, foliage, leaves and such draped over the stones here and there. Lord knows what will pop into my ole brain next then end up on the stock lol. :D Ed

Your buddies camo is under the camo knife and will be finished soon as well. I wanted to post some pics before I headed out the door for some pest control. The resident on my private hunting grounds spotted a Fox around the coop just before dawn. Go figure I wrap it up last night and it shows this morning.  >:( I got to get something for the Hunt Gate and ether the icebox or a fur for the wife hehehe. :D Ed

and to think,
what  I really wanted for Jeff's was,

A Flaming Hello Kitty wearing a Mossy Oak Tutu and Tiara atop the Millenium Falcon as they passed into Warp 5 while being attacked by Apocalypse Undead Little Yellow Minions and Zombie Circus Clowns riding Pink Unicorns and Fuscia Butterflies across a Walmart parking lot under a Rainbow singing Do-wa-diddy-diddy-dum-diddy-do !
(all in Halographic 3D of course !)

Well,... I guess Jeff will just have to be happy with it the way it is now.  :o  ;D  8)
OH.. THIS IS NOT GOOD!! I read this to Betty Lou and she said this is EXZACTY what she wants on her Hattie.

Absolutely BREATHTAKING Ed !
I don't care what anyone says,... This is some of your Finest work, and I am proud and honored that you took the time and effort to create these works of art for me and my buddy Jeff.
These will be highly cherished possessions, that only a select few will be invited to shoot.
I am talking to Eric, and there is a good probability that these will eventually be wearing a .30 cal repeater action in the future.
Think of them as specialized 40 to 50 yd Coyote Cranial Crushers.

I foresee some interesting nights ahead this coming spring and summer.

Stocks arrived last night and they look better than the pics showed.

Also,... don't be surprized,... but we're not done with these puppies at that point  ???  :P

It's looking like they will eventually be getting some of Eric's magic too,... and these are going to end up being some real One of a Kind BEASTS !... how's taht ? you say ? ? ?
Well,... they are going to get the "Grizzley" treatment next.
 Can you say .30 caliber Monster ? ? ?  :o  :o  :o
