I Love scouting, I can get lost forever with my nose on the ground trying to figure out tracks, scat, trails, morning trails, evening trails, directions, even while hunting sometimes I have to slap myself and concentrate on the hunt instead of trying to read the grounds
anyway, today I was scouting a new area that I figures would have good potential for a Mongoose hunt,
As I got deeper in the thick stuff i found an incredible network of Hog trails, there so much porker activity in this area it's crazy.
I found a great spot to set up a blind for a Mongoose hunt, and will start baiting in a couple of days, but I'm seriously considering throwing some Mangos too just to see if I can combine a Mongoose hunt with a possible porker showing up

Me too, it is great from time to time to switch the rifle for a pair of binocs and see how well you do tracking, spotting, calling and taking mental notes on what works what doesn't. Good luck with the mongoose hunt...please post pics!

Good tracking skills always help with the main goal, putting meat in the freezer or pests in a pile. Scouting and tracking is definitely and enjoyable thing to do while out hiking or hunting.
