Mellon Air makes some nice stainless bolts. I have both the extended probe one and flow through ones on my Disco builds. I like the flow through ones better as they load the pellet smoother past the 4-48 screw hole on the type breeches I have. Probably does not matter if you have Disco breech with rear location breech screw.
The short tail 1/4"dia bolts on the 22xx platform guns sideload a lot when cocking. The shortest bolt handle you can live with will help your cause. Buttoning the striker will make things real smooth.
There really is a SOLUTION. Instead of grabbing the end of the handle, wrap your finger around it up next to the breech and pull back. This not only takes most of the angular force off the handle but is actually easier. Give it a try.
Has anyone found a solution to the Maximus/Disco bolt handle issue?I have bent a few and have also broken one out of the threads in the bolt.(22 Caliber & 177)This has occurred even when using a lighter hammer spring and adjuster that reduces cocking effort.I know Bill at Magnum Air Power makes a stainless steel bolt & probe which is currently out of stockAny other vendors?Has Crosman upgraded the parts?Interested in DIY solutions as wellThanksEd
Don Cothran Machine also makes some very nice Stainless Steel bolt probes and bolt handles.
