Old Machinist trick, paper between sliding surfaces.Old Gunsmith trick, powdered rosin between sliding surfaces.Old Mechanics trick, valve grind compound between sliding surfaces.Of course Loctite, epoxy, or super glue would probably do the trick. Do not use Loctite on plastic!Paper is clean, easy and free.Have a good one, Mike
Just wondered how this came out? If it's the "Avanti" sight, I had one of those for a while and also had a lot of trouble with it. I get the feeling it's intended more for Daisy's recoilless pneumatic guns than a springer. The sight is relatively heavy and has a single mounting "foot," so only so much gripping power. A mild-mannered rifle like the R7 can move farther and faster than you might think under recoil, because it is so light. A tough combo of characteristics!
Sounds good! The R7 is definitely a great match with a peep sight, that's all I've ever had on my old one. It's actually wearing an old Anschutz diopter at the moment (should you ever run across one...NO problem with it sliding!).
As Ron (Bayman), stated, try a Williams FP-AG. These are the only peep sights that I use on any of my HW30/R7's. Have never had a problem with movement, and they are a very nice peep sight. You can get different apertures from Midway to suit your sight preferences. As Mike Driskill suggested, an Anschutz should work as well, but will you pay twice as much, if you can even find one. These Williams FP-AG's are what I would suggest, and dump the Daisy Avanti.
