I've been thinking about this ever since this thread was posted, but I've come to a conclusion.Other than "free" guns, those don't count. For a gun that I actually paid for, I would have to say my trusty Beeman P17/Marksmen 2004. I picked it up for $20 (I think, might've been cheaper than that!) and no issues with it. It also shoots hole after hole, it's not ammo picky (even shoots slugs!), there was no sighting necessary, and it's just fun to use. So yes, it was a surprise!FWIW, I've had that Beeman since around 2011 and it has never needed anything other than some greasing. The power is still the same the day when I got it according to the chrony.I've also gotten chipmunks and mice with it too.
*sidebar*Frank... I have always admired your avatar. That Jackaplope is a trophy mount if I ever saw one! Hope to Bag my own someday.
All my guns are budget guns, but the most pleasant surprise of all of them was my QB78. Amazing quality of construction and finish for a $100 air rifle. Better than a lot of firearms being produced today.
I think they are drawn by something over 80 proof.
So what have you guys come across in budget guns let's say 200.00 to 450.00 that blew your mind out of the box stock without having to heavily mod?
