I have the extension that I use on my modified bulldog , I've though about making some kind of baffle for it, just haven't got to it , yours looks like a good example, do you wrap the internals with fabric like donny does.
Very cool !!! Paul the rumor has it that AEA will have 50 cal Standard Challengers on or before July 30th . . . . . I want
Has anyone done some serious modding to a Challenger .357 yet, like with the Benjamin Bulldogs? It looks like this platform might have some real promise, if you can smooth out the edges.I like the fact that they come in a wooden stock, as opposed to plastic.I am really considering getting one of these and quite interested in seeing what kind of success people have had with improving them. What are the opinions from around here? Do you think it may be possible to get the power and performance of a modded Benji, out of one of these?Do you think they are build to last? Thanks for the insights!Pat
I wonder if opening those holes up some might help? That is totally different from any TP I have ever heard of, so would not know how to approach it.Do you feel that the mods you made have had a positive impact on performance?Let us know next time you take it apart and tell us what you do. Who knows, we could have something that is as easy to mod as a Benji Bulldog here!
I found most of the weight of the trigger is due to friction of the parts. I replaced the spring with a lighter one and didn't notice much of a change. After I sanded the contact surfaces smooth to remove the burs, I polished the entire mechanism, to include the contact surfaces and the sides of the parts around the pin holes. That helped way more than the spring. It's still a fairly heavy trigger, but much smoother than before. That's what I did ,just polished the mating surfaces on the sear and trigger linkage and lubed with luberplate made a big difference, never gonna be a target trigger but ok for hunting, you sure don't want a accidental discharge with that much power.
Here is a question to those who have taken the Challenger .357 apart... I am wondering if it might be possible to drill and tap through the back of the bolt, and make a way to adjust the spring pressure acting on the hammer? If this is possible, then tuning this gun would become a reality.Any thoughts? I tried shimming the back side of the spring and after doing this the gun would not cock, kept turning the shim down till it was less than 1/8 inch still wouldn't cock , so stronger or weaker springs of the same length is the only option or change hammer weight.
