Hey all,
It's been awhile since I've posted here. I've been around but into archery a lot also. So I'm getting back into air gunning a bit more seriously this time. I plan on getting high quality 10M rifles for fun & 20-30 yard groups, to this new .30 Rainstorm, .25 Sumatra, maybe a few others. I even considered a tethered .257 but not sure I even want to go there. I mean, all my shooting is from a bench, or if I go with this .30 & a .257, it's license time & blanket, field, varmint hunting time. Maybe one day they'll legalize Big Game in this State. Or, take things like .257's & regulate them. Just food for thought.
So, for those of you that own a .30 RS II, what's the flattest curve you've gotten with what spring & settings? Have any of you regulated your .30 RS II? I have a regulated Will Piatt tuned .22 RS I & I get 50 shots with 18.1's at 860fps. I LOVE it. I can take the caps off of water bottles at 100 yards. I'm thinking of getting a very hot .22 for new high BC pellets or slugs; but dedicated to one or they must both be universally available, accurate with the given settings. If not, then it's choose one or the other. In fact, talk of 36.2 grain .22's w/ a BC of 0.157 have me thinking I may sell all my others. That's Huben talk right there; and I ain't jumping on that problem child bandwagon. No Sir. I'll take a single shot flat, regulated, high power, super accurate .22 PCP any day over a semi auto that has to be sent to a different country or back to dealer for it's barrel to be cleaned.
Will is currently tuning the .22's to spit 25.43's VERY well; but, I admittedly don't know the shot count.
I was looking at the Atamans on sale in .30. They get more shots at 95+fpe than a RS II; but the need a 4350psi fill to do so. No thank you. Where's that Ataman with the same fill pressure of the Evanix?
Also, if ANY rifle is going to shoot both pellets and slugs well, it's the .300 RS choked at .299. I WISH Sam Yang would come out with a Sumatra .30 & .357 as that power wheel is excellent once you learn your projectiles trajectory over given distances, fill pressures, hold overs, and simply when to turn it one click up or hold over and get more shots. I love both of these rifles.
Well, that's enough banter. My main question is let's hear some RS II .30 tune settings and what can I expect. I am leaning towards a regulated rifle but I must calculate the BC between all these pellets & slugs from .22 to .30. Oh, anyone know a rifle that can shoot a 29 grain .177 really well? Mr. Hollow Point is making them; but he doesn't list what rifle really likes to eat them.

Drop Manny / Nomadic Pirate a PM he is the resident Evanix expert and I'm certain that he has a ,30 RS II that he has probably hot rodded for hunting the wild pigs out there. I also know that he gets his springs from McMaster-Carr. If I hadn't had my .30 regulated marauder built I would have jumped on the big bore RS II
