Thanks guys.  I shoot my targets while they are mounted horizontally so there isn't so much vertical variation in the bull position.  This one was mounted such that the top right was actually top left when I was shooting.  That "8" was my first shot and I'll have to admit that I said a few "words" under my breath and I almost tore it off of the backstop, but I kept going; I find that starting over feels like cheating on the target.  :)  Anyway, I discovered where some of my wobble was coming from the past several weeks.  I rest the fore stock on my closed left fist (I wear a leather work glove to protect my knuckles) and usually place my fist about 1.25 inches in front of the trigger guard.   I brought my fist in almost immediately adjacent the trigger guard (about 0.75" back towards me) and I saw stability in my POA that I hadn't seen before.  I don't know how reproducible this will be for me in the future, but it does illustrate that fairly subtle changes to one's stance can have a measureable impact on one's score.  (But mostly, I'm just trying to catch that "10 m robot shooter" otherwise known as Brushy Bill!  Ha...)

Great job Spencer! Good to see you "bear down." I love it when a shooter makes such a jump in score, it
means things are starting to click.
Once you hit the lower 190's it takes some serious effort in paying attention to what is happening to
make some improvement.
That Marauder is a very capable rifle. (you should be cleaning the benchrest target, but I'm not hacking on ya friend)

You're absolutely right about your left hand placement. one of the big benefits in moving it further back is that it
places your left wrist in a more vertical position which is more stable.
If you look at these guys shooting 10 meter, you will see that with most of them, their "rest hand" is nearly touching their trigger hand.
Their upper left arm is as flat against their body as possible, this is facilitated by the way they are "leaning back". If you are not already doing
that, experiment a little.
( the ladies are lucky, their build allows most of them to rest their elbow on their pelvic bone when they lean back slightly)
My shooting coat has a rubber layer on the back of the upper arm and the left side chest, I regularly used a spray adhesive
on the chest pad in high power and smallbore rifle. It really allowed the upper arm to anchor. (adhesives were allowed, Velcro was not)
I always shoot these matches wearing a coat, the fact that you shot a 197 without one, and shooting alone is to be commended.
You are definitely getting there, keep shooting. 8)

Thanks Bill...

(I shot this group with a springer... :) )  The stock on the Marauder is just a bit too much like a 2x4 for me to get a good consistent hold.  I may look into putting some kind of plug/disc in the gauge opening, as it seems to be right where I need to put my fist and it doesn't sit very well as a result.  That said, at the rest, the Marauder is shooting pretty well, but that *one* flyer!  Every time!  I need to get to bottom of that...  Pellet variance perhaps?

On my stance, I push my hip forward and rest my elbow on my pelvic bone.  This is why I have to use a closed fist.  If I don't, I can't get my left arm vertical enough to get it to rest on the bone.  I've tried shooting off of my thumb and the bottom part of my forefinger, but it's just too tiring on my hand that way and I tend to jerk around a bit as a result.  I'll keep working to keep that left arm vertical and see how consistent I stay with it.

My feet are shoulder width apart or slightly more and my torso leans back a bit.  It's taken awhile for the muscles to develop, but I can shoot about 50 shots now without an ache beginning to set in.  I would say that my stance is more European than American in style.  With my right leg as far back as I see some folks put it, I precess like a top...

Sometimes it takes a few weeks for a new, albeit slight, modification in my stance to become second nature, so at this point, I'm making only small changes very slowly, as needed.  My goal is to stay consistent in the mid/high 190s, then look for that 200...

Didn't even look at what you were shooting, went straight to the target.
Just assumed it was the Benjamin. The stock has been a big complaint since the
Marauder came out. I am on the "call list" when the new synthetic .25 comes out.
The few springers I have shot, I just couldn't shoot them consistently. I have a friend
who just got s .22 TX. We will be doing a canoe trip in June, looking forward to shooting
one for the first time.

Your description of how you are making small changes over time is spot on.
Please keep at it, I am excited to see you shooting as well as you are.

@Brushy Bill.....I think those competitor`s air rifles cost more than my car.  ha ha  I tried a few times to stand and shoot like them....*(&^ on my back (Maybe I`m just doing it wrong).

If it hurts to begin with, you're doing it right...  :)  My back was sore for several days when I started to emulate the "real" 10 m target shooters...  The old muscles are used to it now, though...

I don't know how old you are, but especially if you are middle age or older (like me), I would recommend you to go to Home Depot (or similar) and get a back belt.  It will help to protect your lower back as you shoot.  Shooting w/o a jacket or back belt is hard on your lower back.  Your TX+scope is about as heavy as a 10m match rifle (11 pounds).

Discomfort and sore from a new position, that is OK.  But it should stop after your body gets used to the new position and your muscles get stronger.
But hurting is NOT good.  Hurt indicates injury, and that is NOT good.
It might be interpretation where it goes from sore to hurt.

I'm 40.  Sore for a day or two after I begun shooting with a slight rearward lean is a more accurate description of how I felt...  As in when I haven't used that muscle in a long time or if I do use it, I don't use it very repetitively.  Now that those muscles have strengthened, I no longer am sore after a shooting session.  That said, I may look into a back brace to see what it feels like.  I've thought about a jacket, but I think I'll wait on something that specialized for now.

I thought about a jacket for 5 minutes.
My waistline is not stable enough.  I've gone up,down,up again   :(
The back belt is adjustable for my changing waistline   ;)

The sights on your Edge is not "open" it is a "diopter" sight.
"Open" would be like front post and rear notch sights, like the stock sights on the 953.

Good catch, thanks man. I actually copied and pasted it so I would get all the info right. Forgot to change the sights I have on my rifle. Thanks and edited correct now.

Good shooting with the 953.
Only 2 shots outside the 9 ring.  And it looks like flyers.  So I figure you can add 3 more points if you keep it all inside the 9 ring.   ;)

@g2h
The first time I shot 10m, I HURT.
I got a few lessons from an AR coach.  At the first session he totally rebuilt my stance and I was able to shoot that day w/o hurting.  Turns out my old stance was all wrong and putting stress on my back.  Now I can shoot w/o pain, although I still use a back belt anyway.
