Post by: Big_Bill on March 14, 2011, 02:57:44 PM
Match #06 scores are due by midnight on Sunday, March 27th, 2011!

Step right up! The best way to practice is to pick up your rifle and shoot it, and the best way to tell if you're improving is to keep score!

mrod .177, bushnell 2.5-16x42 shot on 10x, cph pellet, standing no support indoors at 10 yards, 189/200 2x or 3x? 1st target upper left corner do you consider that an x?

From the rules:"In order for you to get an X the hole must be completely inside the 10 ring and not touching the line. "
You don't have to obliterate the dot, you just have to be completely inside the 10. I see 5 or 6 x's there.

It depends what caliber you are shooting.
a .20 and .22 can be well into the center dot and
still be touching the line.

Your either touching the dot or your not.

On my printer which I print with no scaling.
The edge of the dot to the line only measures
0.170 inch. So technically, even the .177 cal can
be touching the line and the dot at the same time.

Even wad cutter holes can appear smaller than they
actually are. That is why you need a scoring gage
for the close ones.

I do agree though, he does appear to have at least
5,, possibly 6X's.
Good shootin aack!! ;D

Been busy editing the hours and hours of video and going through the 2000+ photos m'lady and I took on vaca for a family 'presentation' we had today, but I did manage to squeeze in this one shoot early in the week.

Not likely to take a vacation like that again anytime in the next decade. It was a combo of our first anniversary / late honeymoon. *(&^, dunno if we'll do anything like that again in this lifetime! Gonna get some photos and video up on my website this week to share and try to drum up some business. Some of the pics are gonna make for great wallpaper.

Anyway, not bad for shooting cold after a week of paradise and not touching a trigger. :)

Diana 34 w/ Beeman Peep
0.177 RWS Superdome
10yd Standing Offhand
03/21/11 - Inside

Score: 188 / 200 - 7x

Temps are finally supposed to get above 40 this week and a lot of the snow out back melted when we were away. I might finally get some outside shoots in. Yay!

I just want to be sure I'm reading the rules right because they don't really even mention the dot. They just say that the shot has to be inside the 10 ring, not touching it, to be called an X. So the way I'm reading it, the only way to get a 10 is to be touching the line. Inside it and you have an X, outside it and it's a 9. If that's correct, the only function of the dot is to identify the center of the target and give you something to aim at.

I only mention the dot in my previous post because I think it's in the rules of one of the other matches it says "nick the dot for a 10 and obliterate it for an X." After looking at his target and reading his question,  I was wondering if maybe aack73 was confusing the rules between matches.

Yes, looking at it I believe your right. It sounds like
the dot really don't mean anything, it's just a dot.
Good thing you brought it up.

yea i don't think i am necessarily scoring them all correctly. feel free to chime in and correct me. not trying to cheat or anything. just scoring them best i can with out a gauge.

aack, looks like you're scoring this one alright. It's hard to tell from just a photo, but I can see 3xs possibly 5 or 6. A scoring gauge is a fantastic help, but the head of a pellet gets the job done in a pinch. :)

And yeah, to echo what the other guys said, you only gotta get the shot inside the 10 ring without touching it to score an "x" for this match. The dot's irrelevant.
