When you installed the trigger group, did you hold the sear down until the trigger group was in it's final location? Also, can you post a pic of the spring you think you mis-installed?
Where it comes 90 degrees like that, that butts up against the side of the allen bolt?

I think the 90 degree bend needs to rest in front of that middle (longest) pin.[/quoteI have the long leg going down the back of the trigger..."in front of the middle longest pin" .....so its inside that block instead of the outside?

You have to put tension on it and it's kind of hard to fit up in there.
Maybe back off your trigger adjusting screw?
The silver piece that the allen bolt goes through...
This was already mentioned and you said you held back the sear during install, so probably not the problem. However, I practiced this "error" many times last year so I know it very well and how to avoid it. I KNOW all that, and it still BIT ME AGAIN yesterday when I was testing trigger mods on my Ruger! My avatar shows an approximate animation of one type of springer trigger action. The image below is what can easily happen during trigger installation even when you've done it correctly MANY times before. The sear really wants to spring inside the compression tube every time, but this will not allow the piston to pass and lock.
Did you add any spacers to the piston spring? How about putting the trigger and spring back together with the trigger unit off the rifle? Then study it until you understand what each part does. This is what I do when modifying triggers.
got it to cock twice, but couldn't pull the trigger. had to set it off with a drift through the mounting hole. the sear in the bottom isn't catching the piston, or the trigger is binding. i give...Walking away for a while. Thanks for help.
