Another great video! Thanks for including your footage of checking your zero. That's an interesting looking box with the quick mount clips? How is it made? Thanks, Ken

@customcutter. Thank you. I built the box the size of an A4 paper with 3/4" plywood and a steel plate behind rows of duct seal. The paper clips are anchored onto the side of the box with wood trims. With all the leads shot, the box becomes heavier and heavier LOL.

Thanks for sharing. Yes, for us airgun shooters, the introduction with the zero checking is always very nice.
Although with rat food around, I would not resist to try "2 or 3" pieces of a very smelling bait on the clean shots areas. Maybe inside some recycled packaging (with holes) to make it easier to recollect at the end.

Since my childhood I don't have anymore a place to hunt rats. So, trying to improve even more 'my' virtual hunting with Plink..
Let's say I would put different kinds of very smelling baits in 3 packaging. Cheese? fried bacon? sour corn? .. ? .. ?
Besides a potential improvement in the number of shots, on the videos we would get info to learn about their eventual smell preferences.

Never had to bait rats if many around, they are cannibals. The area's they hang out at is food and water sources. I have a water trough as a favorite source. Have seen half a dozen drinking out of the trough at one time. Within a few minutes of shooting, rats are eating the dead. They want the protein. After shooting, many times a third would be drug off.

@mpbby. Thank you for watching. Due to my busy schedule, I hardly have time to zero my guns before the shoot, but when I do have that extra time before night fall, I would check my zeros just to be sure. Just transporting my gun would cause some POI shift. There are too many food source in the area and baiting wasn't necessary. I might get better result with some tasty/smelly bait, but I would have to clean that up before leaving. So I don't use them.
I am glad to be able to "take" you with me in my videos, lol. I might be able to do a food tasting survey with them rats to see what they would prefer. But I am sure they would eat anything you put out.
@sicumj. Yes they are cannibals and they often eating the dead ones.
Wait for my next rat video #122 coming out soon. This location is heavily infested with rats and I tagged 39 rats in three hours. My HW100 was busy sending pellets out.

Thank you for your hospitality
When I am going to hunt with friends, we are used to think loud with each other in the way, so..
When I am randomly walking through a park, although with the usual food sources, a popcorn smell in the air works for me like a magnet.
The idea for baiting is only for the environments that, although plenty of rats and food sources, they barely come into the clean shots spots during the hunt time.
With the environment smell they are used to, it seems to me their paths are random, and some 'special' smells could motivate the extra steps into the right direction.
Just in order to learn, I would not clean up, just leave the baits at some spots to see if the 'popcorn trick' actually makes a worthwhile contribution.

@mpbby. Thanks for the tip. It makes sense to introduce something new and delicious to them to try. Perhaps I would leave some peanut butter on a piece of board and see if they would camp out there after having a taste of heaven, lol. maybe popcorn with peanut butter? I will not set it up at this farm but I might give it a try at the "rats farm".

@kbstingwing. Thank you. Safety must be the number one priority especially with the diary cows. Rats can be tagged at another time, but hitting any cows in the process can be a very costly and end of permission deal.
