From my collection, the barrel is pinned.
The Hy-Score 804 was a repeater version of the 803 single shot 5 in 1 Sportster.Hy-Score simply used either a .177 or .22 rear magazine unit from the model 802 with the matching caliber short barrel and pinned it. The 804 was meant to be a single caliber and had a fixed barrel. The 804's did not display "interchangeable barrel" on the receiver and the barrel end was unknurled and smooth. The Receiver simply says "Target Pistol" not "Sportster". The Sportster name only applies to the model 803 "5 in 1" pistol. The model 804 was known as the Pocket Repeater.Since the 804 used off the shelf parts from the 802 and 803, it would be easy to make one, since Hy-Score did not bother to put model numbers on these pistols. This is why it led to the confusion that the 804 was a interchangeable barrel repeater. IT IS NOT. It is either a .22 caliber or .177 caliber repeater with the appropriate matching pinned barrel. Would it be difficult to take the magazine unit off a 802 and place it on a 803 Sportster to make a sportster repeater.Probably not. Would that make it a 804, no it would not.Now the question is, did Hy-Score themselves use any Sportster stamped 803 receivers to produced a Model 804 and then pin the appropriate barrel? Its possible they may have just before discontinuing the short barrel pistols to use up remaining parts. We would have to locate a factory boxed 804 with the 803 receiver to confirm that theory. As it stands right now, a true 804 has a pinned barrel without knurling, and a receiver that is stamped "Target pistol" and not "Sportster" or "Interchangeable Barrel"
FlintCan you post a closeup picture of the barrel where it is pinned.Hy-Scores pistol are rather confusing to say the least.Did you know that the Sportster came in three different flavor not including caliber or chrome finish. You could buy a sportster with a single barrel of your choice of caliber or the 5 in 1 kit. The early 5 in 1 kit had two barrels and the later kit came with three barrels.adding in the combination of finish, grip color and different caliber on single barrel models and you had a staggering number of variations from the factory.
Are these concentric barrel in piston tube guns still in production? I stumbled across my thread and find these little pistols to be very interesting.

Since your pistol appears to have been factory pinned, we have to assume that the model 804's used Sportster receivers and barrels at the end to use up parts. So that means there are two variants of the Model 804 Pocket Repeater, Early and late.
