The gun was shooting 430-460 fps. with a 17" barrel from 70-85 degrees f. I made a Condor style poppet for it, tapered to seal on the inside of the donut. This let more gas through 514fps. @ 61F. The only thing limiting power now is the short .195 hammer stroke, If the internals could be put in a new tube with a longer hammer stroke??

fascinating gun , ideal for a cane gun really.. Im sure you can get it to 600 fps or so.

I bored out the donut in the valve and went about .150 deeper, but that lost power because it brought the hammer and poppet closer together shortening the hammer stroke. I noticed that the hammer could be pushed further forward and could get a longer hammer stroke if the trigger/sear could be moved forward. So I glued a dowel in the trigger/sear pivot pin hole in the stock and re-drilled the hole about .80 further forward, gaining about 30% more hammer stroke. The velocity went from 515fps. to 630 fps. @ 84f. and 660 fps. @70f. a little valve lock at higher temps.

I used a 1322 barrel to make a 10" extension so the barrel is now 27" long, about perfect for a cane gun. The velocity gain is less than I expected, 692@83f. but at this temp. I lost 30fps. with the 17" barrel due to valve lock, so we'll see what does in the morning when it's cooler.

Hi Rob, I was hoping to see how much power I could get out of the inline valve with co2 compared to like a 2260 valve. This morning it shot 729fps. with .22 cphp's @ 74f. The hammer weights about 30 grams and has a .250 stroke now, but I don't think that's enough to really see the potential of the inline valve on co2.

thats nuts !!! ive only maxed out 177 with co2 , got 801 a few yrs ago on a hot day.. Not sure what that is in 22 , but id say 750 is the max theoretical and youre right there

When I shot 729 fps. 74f. the gun was a little chilly. I had just put the lightest valve return spring in to it I could find and when I fired the gun it dumped the cart, I had replaced the original brass valve poppet with one made from delrin, it didn't always reseal on the first shot after reinstalling it. A bit latter a @ 75f. it shot 755fps., latter @ 77f. it shot 742, valve lock was setting in. I had also made a custom hammer for it, the stock hammer did not seal in the valve or the tap and the holes for the gas to enter were to small. I had cut an o-ring groove right at the front of the valve and at the front of the tap so the hammer would be sealed. JG sells the complete original valve for $31, it might be fun to experiment with.
