Here is my HW95 with the 4-16x44 Hawke AirMax 30 SF Compact scope mounted.........
Even when new the knob for the illuminated reticle intensity adjustment was difficult to turn, however after not adjusting the knob for over a year (no field target matches) of non-use the "IR intensity knob" was too stiff to be turned by hand.
I called Hawke tech support and it was suggested that the knob simply needed to be rotated several times to "loosen it up". If it couldn't be turned by hand use a padded tool it loosened up. I used used a pair of pliers after wrapping the "IR knob" with a couple layers of cloth electrical friction. Sure enough, after a bunch of rotations the "IR knob" loosened up so it can now be turned by hand.
The "Hawke tech guy" mentioned that "stiff turning" is a rather frequent complaint with the AirMax reticle illumination knob and if I wasn't able to free it up the work could be done by sending it in under warranty.
