As a SB9 owner I can tell you from the pics the lathe pictured is not reasonably priced. With rare exception SB9 bed ways are not hardened. That is why ways on these old SB9's are often well worn which means the saddle is also well worn. Often too well worn. If you can feel a ridge at the top of the veeway with a fingernail (near the spindle) the bed is well worn.I have seen completely rebuilt 9's sell for what the gentleman is asking. That included fresh scraped beds/saddles and lots of extras like taper attachments, belt drive conversions etc...I don't mean to discourage you but I would keep looking.Tough to say what is a fair price. You are not in the rust belt so are therefore limited in availability. I can say from experience I would not pay $1500 for it.
‘Preciate the guidance guys. I’ll keep lookin’, but rarely does anything worthwhile, much less affordable, show up out here in the hills. Thanks again.
It also has a collet set and draw bar, I would offer 2500.00.
how sure are you that its a 9a??? that looks identical to my 10k except this one has the flat belt versus my v belt setup. I got mine for 1400 if i recall
