I’m on my last one now, as soon as my parts get here. Then I’ll be on the lookout another fun project gun. Been looking really hard at the Single shot BB gun they claim is the most accurate in the world. Single shot is kind of a turn off; but if it’s as accurate as they claim; it’ll still be fun to shoot. Good looking too. I wonder how well it would handle lead BBs? Seems like they’d be better for the barrel...I REALLY like my Daisy 499 Avanti. From a rest, it is capable of hitting a practice golf ball every time at 75 feet (1.68" diameter), and that is with garden variety Daisy BB's. If you are concerned about wearing out the barrel with steel bb's (I personally don't think that would be a problem), it would probably be cheaper to buy extra barrels from Daisy and replace them than it would be to buy pricey lead bb's. The barrel unit simply screw in, literally a 20 second operation. The plunger seal would probably wear out first, and I'm sure it is good for many thousand shots. The gun being a single shot isn't as much of a hassle as it seems it would be, as long as bb's are carried in a simple to access manner. I carry them in a fanny pack with the top open. The muzzle opening is a very large funnel. Just drop them in.
