Title: break barrel quality....
Post by: chet on April 20, 2014, 09:21:18 AM

I have a friend who has a Gamo air rifle, not sure of the model its a 177 whisper break barrel, he said it use to shoot good but lately he cant hit nothing, so i took it home and checked it out, first was the barrel shroud and the end where you put the pellet in is all plastic, the pivot screw goes thru a steel bushing in the molded plastic, barrel had almost 1/8 in slop out at the muzzle, well to make the story short, i machined a few parts and corrected this issue, so this brings me to the question, i see the Ruger  Blackhawk on sale at AGD, since i heard these are clones of the D34, i want to make sure the barrel end that goes between the cutout out at the compression tube end is steel like the D34 and  no plastic is incorporated in the design, that Gamo i worked on a basically a very very low quality entry level with no longevity built into that model.

The only plastic on the Air Hawk: front sight/muzzle break, safety, tube end cap and trigger guard.

I see this all the time on this forum; cheap guns are just that; cheap junk. One is barely better than the other. Save a little more and buy quality to start, tk

the airhawk also has steel bushings between breech block and reciever, not the usual plastic. from what i saw, when i disassembled mine to tune it, the gun is right on par with guns costing 2-300.00.
they're a very good quality ag at a bargain basement price. i have no regrets about mine.

There was just a posting in the bargain gate.  Airhawks for around $75.00.  Good Deal!
Flying Dragon also has a good deal on a tuned D34 clone.  A Very popular choice.
