It was rather awkward and possibly dangerous but I double and triple checked clearances.Thank you for posting your journey, I stopped and ground a piece of tool steel flat on the end to make the 45° with the plastic in the chuck. It worked well but I was only re-facing an old poppet, YMMV. I got it all together without any extra parts, it shot and held air!!Now I am trying to figure out why its sending double-shots down range? I turned the dial down 1 line, 10 O-clockish, still having some feeding issues. Lots to learn about this gun, it's gonna be interesting.

Almost sounds like the trigger isn’t disconnecting correctly. Might try some different finger positions to narrow down. Dave

DaveI found a bunch of video about the double feed issue online and some highspeed video showing the phenomenon, looks to be a bolt-bounce issue with the cycling piston being just a little too close to the barrel end with the power valve wide open. Turning the power valve down works fine to tame down the double feed and when dry firing it, it will cycle 100% at all power levels which eliminates trigger disconnect issues for me. I have a lot of work today so no fun for me, Ill get into the HP Carbine tomorrow or Monday.

The amount of gap can probably be adjusted as needed. Might take some time and effort to adjust it so that it cycles properly at the power level you want.
After reading through a few threads about the failures of the poppets in these guns I decided to order a poppet from Bin Tac, after doing that I decidedto fill my 25 cal to about 3K and do a little rapid fire in my attic with it last night. That gun sure has been very reliable for me since I've owned it, boughtit in early June 2021.
The mechanism has two forces pushing bolt back when fired. The blowback of the sealed probe acting as a piston and the semi auto piston in the shroud. When dry firing, the effect of the probe piston is decreased substantially, thereby not creating an ‘overdriven’ bolt/hammer. Soo, what to do. You can’t change the probe effect but you can change how much air the front piston gets. You can try cutting a washer from a pop can that will block some of the holes in the barrel centralizer. You might be able to tune the shot cycle to get it where it’s not bouncing off the rear bumper so bad which will probably make it not cycle properly when dry fired. Just something cheap and easy to try. A pair of scissors and a pop can. Dave
David, when you said back to cabinets you piqued my interest, I've been a custom cabinet maker for 50 years.
Nope, still double firing for me, nothing at all has helped, even did the pop can mod to block off air from pushing the piston back, trigger wont reset or double shots.
I did find a video on a HP SS that was shooting doubles, and the fix the guy used. One of the posters mentioned that he used .22 spent casings to fill the holes in the baffle. Hope it helps, and I'll keep looking.David, what caliber did you buy? Do you have any different weight pellets/slugs to try in the gun? When you had the gun apart did you do an inspection on the trigger assembly, or any mods to lighten trigger pull? Is there more than one spring in the trigger group and they possibly got switched? Did you reach out to the seller yet about the issue? I know you talked with him about the poppet. I just tried a quick YT search and haven't found any "multiple" shot videos. I'll keep trying to find a video on the issue, and possible fixes. Also there are at least 2 AEA FB pages, don't know if you posted there?
