Older Beemans didn't have a safety.

After shooting the HW a little my extreme hatred for the safety has been tempered down to irritation at the quirkiness. I still think it's basically a poorly thought out design on an otherwise nice machine.
I'd be OK with the HW safety if it wasn't automatic and I could flip it on and off.
Keep shooting it and the safety becomes second nature.
In springer land, if you go from 1 hole groups to spraying everywhere and you didn't change anything, here's the culprits. Bad piston sealBad breach sealBroken mainspring Stock screws looseScope mounts/iron sights looseSometimes a combo of any of those with the most common by far being screws loose somewhere. As far as the safety, IMO the lousiest safety (on the German guns)is on the Diana's, just terrible. The HW safety is positive but I do wish it could just be flipped on or off. A safety whether lousy or great is never a make or break for me though.
