Hawke Vantage 4X on springer

I have an HW50S and an R7 I want to scope and just picked up a Hawke Vantage 4X, will it be ok on these medium and light springers?
I earlier bought an Airmax 2-7X32 and while it's a good scope, I have to say, the view on both (at 4X obviously) is simply amazing on the Vantage and just average on the Airmax. That's the reason I'm looking at using the Vantage, it is simply the clearest scope I've ever seen in this price range. It easily outpaces the Airmax. Also, the reticle is just a tad thicker, and for these old eyes, is just right for my vision.

Hawke rates them for 12fpe and less springers so it should work just fine on either rifle.

Strictly speaking I do not believe the Vantage series is springer rated. However, Hawke does have a lifetime warranty. They will repair or replace it if it fails. Hang onto your sales receipt and enjoy the scope.

I have a Hawke Vantage straight 4x non AO scope on my Hw50. It's been on there for a few months and a couple thousand rounds and it's been fine. Hawke will tell you that the Vantage series aren't springer rated but they will warrantee them on springers upto 12fpe. I have a Vantage 3-9x40 AO that i use to test other people's guns with and it's been on a couple of magnum springers for a short time. It's still working great. I use Airmaxs on my stronger springers.
I'm very happy with my 4x non AO Vantage. The glass is very clear and in focus from about 11 yards out. I also have a 2-7x32 Vantage and 2-7x32 Airmax. The glass is definitely better on my Airmax than the 2-7x32 Vantage and at least as good as the my 4x Vantage. And yes the Airmax reticles are very fine and are harder to pick out of a busy background. Most of my guns are for the shooting range and the Airmax scopes work well there. The Hw50 with the 4x Vantage is my hunter and the thicker reticle works better for me in the woods.
The most important thing when trying to safeguard a scope on a springer is to adjust the gun to run the scope close to its optical center. The combination of barrel droop and recoil destroys scopes in short order.
