Quote from: customcutter on May 21, 2022, 09:44:05 AMDavid, how is the trigger on the Pro? I hope it's better than the Carbine. I thought about the Pro that was in the Classifieds a few days ago, but looked up the weight and it was a hard no for me with my back issues. Hope it does what you want? Interested in accuracy and velocities as well.Ken, The Pro's trigger is much better but still needs some smoothing. It's a completely different setup with more of a standard bar, dog-bone, sear arrangement and should respond well to a polishing and lubrication.In-between coats of paint, I got outside to run the Pro with CPHP's and hand cast 25gr slugs, changing only the power wheel from Minimum to Maximum for them respectively. The results were interesting and welcome. With the regulator set at 100 bar, I got the following speeds:The twelve 14.3gr CPHP's on Min came in at 830fps and did so again and again with several identical readings on the chrony leaving me to wonder if it was broken? Nope, the Charger varies by about 10fps and it did again in testing it with the chrony so back to the CPHP's on Min and again, 829, 830, very consistent.I loaded up a batch of freshly cast slugs that measure right at .218" and cranked the power wheel to Max and got... 930, 929, 928 fps for all 12 shots. I am very pleased with the speeds I got and they are right where I wanted them to be. I have not weighed the gun yet but it is very heavy! It's also very long but I was looking for a dedicated bench gun so this fits the bill well.

I received the gun set at 100bar on the regulator so it has a LOT of room for power from here but the 830 for CPHP's was a real treat since they like the mid 800's in my guns. Cold, clean bore at 30 yards, I got a 1/2" group with all 12 pellets. Once it fouled up, the group had shrunk down to heartbeat error distance which will go away once its on bags. This is a .22 and the seller was very kind and sent me some NSA slugs, I will be shooting those once I tune the trigger and empty the bottle. The regulator is stupid easy to access, just unscrew the air tube and turn the reg.

I bet it's crazy efficient at 100b with those CPHP.
I'm going to give Bin a call at the Pellet Shop about a DonnyFL from my HP Max 457 tomorrow. It's really loud bigtime without one.
No shroud on my HP Max 457
David, sorry to hear that accuracy is not where it should be. I guess you've checked the leade on the barrel and the crown? For some reason I was thinking this was the .22 Pro that was in the classifieds a couple of weeks ago? I thought about it but didn't want a bench gun, and too many back issues already. Good luck.
I have been shooting the Challenger Pro in .22 for the past few days and I thought for sure that I had a bad barrel, or at least it hated CPHP's and JSB's. I decided to start cranking the power wheel up and see if the CPHP's that seem to love 850 fps in the rest of my .22's, will perform in the Pro.6 MOA at Min, 5 MOA at the first heavy line, 4 MOA at the second heavy line (seeing the same thing I'm seeing?) I got all the way up to Max and I could SWEAR I was shooting a .22lr!. The groups started opening up again when I hit Max but no to bad. I left the power wheel just one heavy line below Max and I am not going supersonic but have to check with the chrony Thursday, we have rain tomorrow. I have yet to figure out a solid support for the Pro but I do have the bipod (super nice!) and I will modify it a little to sit lower then use the but screw (sounds dirty to me) to adjust the height. No NSA slugs through it yet, I want a full day to play and get this dialed in but it's looking good now! Bottom line, it shoots CPHP's or it goes to the classifieds....
"I unapologetically demand that a .22 must shoot CPHP's or its out the door"Amen brother, amen....😉As i say " i dont mind a pellet picky gun as long as it picks cphp"👍
Since I trap all of my CPHP's, they get a second, third even fourth life as well as slugs. Once I have moved my 200 yard plate over to the 100 yard airgun range, I will trap all of my slugs as well.

I was thinking all the bricks worth of pellets ive shot that would make a lot of 2ed+ chance projectiles...
Deeco I save all my pellet tins for pellets/slugs that I cast, out there on the state land that I hunt there's plenty of stuff available to shoot if I want to,one of my favorite things to do is gather up shotgun shells, line them up on a log and pick them off.
