Fancy custom grips for IZH 46M

While preparing to fit up my funky IZH grips to my hand, I came up with this. Wrap a bunch of rubber bands around the grip and wedge some random objects under the rubber bands to fill in the low spots. Also jammed some coins between the shelf and grip to widen the shelf. It actually feels pretty good like this. Maybe I'll leave it and let the guys at the club drool over my custom fitted grips.

Daisy model 94 (My first gun, had it since the 1950s)
Daisy Quick Skill (had it since the 1960s)
Sheridan Blue Streak (some regret over selling it)
Daisy 1200 (can't wait to get rid of it)
Bullseye Sharpshooters (betcha never shot one)

Avanti V-10
IZH 46-M (My 10M gun, I like it a lot, I shoot it a lot)
Daisy 853 (sold, Nothing about it made me smile)
Feinwerkbau 601 (this has forever changed my idea of a good trigger) I smile every time I shoot it. I love this gun
HW 30S (OK trigger, OK accuracy, fun to shoot. Maybe a keeper)
Winchester 1100S (Possibly the worst gun I've ever owned. Gave it away.)
Crosman 600 and Sheridan E (CO2 is not my cup of tea)
Benjamin 132 (it speaks to me)
Crosman 130 (it doesn't speak to me)
Smith & Wesson 78G (How guns used to be made)
Webley Osprey (Charming Brit Springer)
B3-3 "the horror, the horror"
Daisy 717 (not as amazing as I hoped)
Gecado 806 (amazing trigger)

Fit is definitely the most important. But what are the actual wood grips that are underneath? They don't look like the blocky chunks of wood that came on mine. I did a lot of sanding and shaping and I like how mine fit now but they don't look as nice as what wood I can see on yours looks.

I bought it used so I don't know if the previous owner modified the stock grips to suit him but there are no obvious signs of owner shaping. I'd say the grips are on the large size for the average hand and the thumb side of the grip looks like it was shaped on a tablesaw. The shelf definitly does not suit me and I will carve some finger grooves eventually. I also don't like how slippery the finish is so I might stick on some self adhesive grip tape. Or just leave the rubber bands.
